You should look into how they arrived at this number. I am willing to bet they surveyed primarily street prostitutes. That is quite a staggering statistic. Is it true? What is the % for women in general? I have heard it is very common. I hear that quoted on an anti-prostitution ad.
Don't you see that your story contradicts your beliefs that girls who were sexually abused are not likely be SPs (she was abused and she's a SP)?I was with an SP once who allowed me to DATY. After our session, she told me that I was the first person she ever allowed to do that. She doesn't even allow her boyfriend, believe it or not! I asked her why she doesn't allow it, and she told me that when she was 12 yo, she was sexually assaulted in that manner. She has never allowed anyone to do it to her since as it brings back those feelings she had when she discovered him doing it. We had a long talk about it afterwards and she actually broke down while discussing it. She was a lovely girl and I felt terrible for her.
Although I wouldn't know if your stats are accurate, based on this experience, I'd be surprised if they are. If this girl's reaction is any indication, girls who were sexually abused during their youth would shy away from sex, not pursue it in a career as an escort. But hey, I'm not a psychologist so what do I know.
So it's true that roughly 3 out 4 women in the general population have been abused as children? And there are studies that show that the incidence of childhood sexual abuse amongst prostitutes is no different than the general female population.
Bingo!you should look into how they arrived at this number. I am willing to bet they surveyed primarily street prostitutes.
So if 76% of, say, accountants were sexually abused as children should we make accounting illegal? What I am saying is this a reason to marginalize prostitutes more than they already are?
