Maybe all 3. Ever since he decided to make an ass of himself, his team, and his family with his sexual misconduct, it’s been nothing but shit for red bull. He was bringing the entire team down.
If they canned Horner bc Max was not happy the are morons. Max will only be around for a few years. Building an F1 team and keeping it at the top for so long is insanely difficult. I am pretty sure Horner will land on his feet and is highly sought after.
Jos Verstappen has been on the warpath with Horner for a while now.
Newey is a rumor. Horner and Newey are extremely close friends. Horner is the godfather of Neweys kids and there is NO WAY Newey would have stayed so long if not for Horner. Max will leave if not now then within 2 years. RedBull is a very intricate beast built by Horner and it will take quite a while for anyone else to come to grips with it. Yes Horner had immense power in the team, but Marko had power as well. Drivers managers and family should not be given too much say other then car feedback.
Didn't know that about Newey and Horner with Horner being the godfather. So that theory is out the window regarding Newey.
IMHO Max has already decided to go to Merc. He will decide in 2026 to see which team has the 2026 rules right but if Merc is there, he is GONE. COuld also be Aston. It won't be Red Bull. His takeout of Horner was to sabotage Red Bull. Chaos will reign there for the next 18 months and when Horner lands he will poach a lot off good people to his new team.
Remember that Horner was NOT accused of sexual harassment but "excessively controlling behavior". I think Newey saw him being set up and push out and did not wanna be left scrambling when the axe fell. PLUS after 2023 his value was at its absolute peak and I think there was a bit of a battle with the current aero chief asserting his domain. Since he can go anywhere, working at Aston was a great gig, he got everything he wanted plus to take Aston to the top. It will seal his legacy.
