Rumour is $5mm annually for 5 years.
Another rumour is Rielly for Evander Kane ($7mm annually).
It can work under the cap but they will need to sacrifice elsewhere ... could well result in a trying to save a few million and passing on a 1B type qoaltender. And then going all in with more of a pure backup and riding Jack Campbell (a Patrick Lalime scenario).
I don't think Hyman's body can sustain the punishment he puts it through, and that's really where his value lies.
He won't be back for that money for that term.
Then again we're talking about Dubas.

Evander Kane has issues plus a $7mm salary. Not worth it.
It would be terrible if they lose Rielly. He is a west coast boy and may want to return there. Also, he owes nothing to the Leafs who could have extended his contract anytime during the past couple of years.

The Maple Leafs cannot extend Morgan Rielly (should both sides be interested in such an idea) until the final year of his present deal. With Covid-19 adjusting the season timing, I'd guess the 2021-22 Hockey Year will start toward the end of July.
But, maybe comprehension isn't an important factor at McGill Four Seasons Total Landscaping Technical School.

Also, I heard that Rielly could be extended after June 30th if both parties agree. Rielly might not want an extension and instead test the UFA market next year. Campbell will also be an UFA next year.
