Although going into the gold medal game I was a little bit worried because I thought Russia could be a formidable opponent.
I knew Canada still had more talent through 4 lines, and on Defence.
Dominating win.

I think, if you look at Russia's current crop of elite young forwards, they stack up pretty nicely against Canada's. There are a lot of really great, dynamic, young players coming up like Tarasenko, amd Kucherov, etc... Canada will soon add Connor McDavid to carry the torch in that department.
Where Canada will have the distinct advantage will be on defence, as now, and in the future. Russia doesn't have good young defencemen like Ekblad, Reilly, Subban etc...
Then there's coaching....

Canada wins Gold ! :canada:

Current World Junior, Olympic and now World Champions. :canada:

Sidney Crosby has now won the Stanley Cup, Junior Gold, Olympic Gold and a World Championship Gold. The quad.
Btw, Scott Niedermayer has these 4 plus a Memorial Cup - the only person to have all 5. The Cinco :)

He could have and should have been a Toronto Maple Leaf but...............................

Give the Russians a bit of credit...I mean they did find the right arena! ;-)
I was pleasantly surprised when the Ruskies didn't turn off the lights when they were losing 5-0.

Canada has always been in the class of our own when it comes to hockey. There were times when the best players were not able to compete in the Olympics or were not available or our resources were mismanaged. Not any longer. Our talent pool is so incredibly deep that even without the players competing in the Cup finals, nobody can even come close. It's a real credit to our hockey development system.

Also, the refereeing was biased against Canada because the Europeans cheat and the Ruskies were the worse cheaters. It's too bad Canada isn't allowed to enter two teams because our best 40 are far better than anybody else' best 40.

and, amazingly, they did it without Nazim Kadri!

recall, last year, the great nazim is (somehow) on the roster....when the Avs lost in 1st round of the NHL playoffs Nathan McKinnon joined the team and nazim
said "he'll give us depth"

he did that all right, straight onto the top line while nazim got stapled to the bench.,

what a clown, as a rookie he referred to his-then bosses Brian Burke&Ron Wilson as "Burkie and Willsie", something 10 yr vets wouldn't do.

he&PK are endless sources of entertainment.
Wow.

Canada wins the Gold, has nothing to do with the Leafs or any of their players and haters still find a way to bring the Leafs into the thread to take a shot.

Now Fatboy, can you tell us when the stapling to the bench happen ?
I seem to remember Kadri playing in every game, including the playoff game.

you call me a leaf-hater?

perhaps you'd be kind enough to indicate which posts I used to bash the leafs?

I compare nazim kadri's ridiculous, immature comments with those of pk subban, and..I'm a Habs fan.

as to kadri's part in the 2014 tournament.....his ice time was much less then McKinnon, the guy who would "give us depth"

now that you mention it, scanning the roster for the world championship, I can't find any leafs.why were none chosen?were they out of shape, after being off skates since game 82?
or, could they not change their tee-times,since they'd been booked weeks in advance?

not a leaf-hater, hope they do well under Babcock.
