Just noticed on the TV schedule that the Canada/Russia game on Dec 31 will only be shown on TSN2. Doesn't bother me cuz I always signup for TSN2 for the World Jrs but for everyone else that really blows.

EDIT: My bad. Was looking at a repeat telecast. The live game is at 8:30 AM on regular TSN.

GO CANADA !!!

Maybe we can watch another replay of the Montreal/Red Army game on New Years once again.

What time? If it is the afternoon, I may just hang out in a pub with my buddies.
The games are mostly on around 4 am being in Russia. I think the latest game Canada plays is 9 am. Not typical pub times but Ill be up with the coffee and baileys on watching the kids as I do every year. Go Canada Go!!!!!

Saw the Sweden game, it wasn't that crisp and clean, lots of room to work on timing and plays. Jenners not a dirty player, with only 30 minutes in 32 games in the OHL, career 203 games and 232 minutes, but he is still unfamiliar with the international refs, even though he played last year, and definitely suffered a brain fart.

Unfortunately, players like Jenner can't help themselves even on a large stage like the WJC. While he'll probably do well in the NHL playing like Claude Lemieux or Steve Downie it's absolutely not the way the wimpy, soft, and politically correct Euros play. And since the Euros control the IIHF I fully expect him to be suspended for the hit on the Swede.

You guys slamming Jenner have no idea. He is a class guy and not dirty at all. Captain of the Generals and a leading scorer in the league. A late hit? Yep! Bad spear last year? it was a love tap but had to be disciplined for sure. I see him all the time and he isnt a goon or a dirty player. He is a skilled guy that has a couple of brain cramps once in a while like lots of people. Everyone loves him when he blocks shots and wins every face off he takes. Canadians in general have to learn that what they get away with in the CHL will not be excused in this tourny. Jenners hit would have been 5 mins and maybe a game misconduct in the O but no suspension. Canada better learn to keep their sticks down or they are fucked. Its the tippy tap shit that they are getting nailed on. Coach better get them focused

According to this video there's .5 sec rule to allow a hit in the NHL. That probably takes into
account that you can't react fast enough to change your path in some situations.
But.
This was 30 digital frames or 1 sec.
You can see that Jenner knows the puck is gone and he lines him up for a hit.
He hits a player that's not expecting a hit because he doesn't have the puck and takes him out of the tournament.
It's a late hit. It's a dirty play.
Suspend his a**.
It was late hit
No Question
How long of a penalty/ suspension?
Depends on what country you were born in

The problem is when you are dealing with Euro officials that don't care about big boy pants. They are the ones making the calls and the Canadians need to learn to adapt to them (not the other way around) if winning is their objective as opposed to showing the world how the game should be played.

I agree, it's hockey, but not everyone has the same definition of what that entails.

Correct
Canadians have been dealing with this since 1972.
However, this other poster is complaining about seconds and frames? Really?
It's hockey. We've all played. You have to have your head up and swivelling. If not you get killed.
I blame the Swede more than Jenner. In hockey you MUST protect yourself and not rely on refs or rules to save you life.

Late hit but doesn't deserve a suspension. I don't think there was intent to injure. But of course the softie Euros have to lay down some discipline just like they did when Dion Phaneuf laid out Olesz with a clean open ice hit a few years back. 2 games for hitting too hard.

Dirty(late) hit ? ... in a gray area ... I say no, but since that call has been made and the player in question has a history he will likely be suspended.
I would not be crying foul or favoritism if it was a Canadian who was hurt so long as it is called the same in every case regardless of the country of the offending player. So often it has been tougher on Canadians when one of them hits a Euro girl.
I agree with DJ 1470, it is a tough, big boys game. Time for the Euro girls to get with it or get the fuck out and let us(Hockey Canada) run it.
I happen to think in many cases the CHL referees would be tougher on the players ... equally tougher ... difference is you would know what you can do with Canadian referees.

Canada wins as expected. 9-3 over Germany.
Not many penalties and a couple of those are the typical "Canada is too rough" type.
Did not like the two goals given up near the end of the period.

Jenner's hit was dirty and he also is pretty damn close to leaving his feet. Having said that, the Swede also committed one of the biggest no-no's in hockey...admiring your pass.

Hockey is a fast paced game, and plays like this happen all the time, and i have to say i am in agreement with dj1470...put you big boy pants on and get on with it.

Fark, I hate the time difference. I was going to watch the game today, but the radio alarm goes off and the lead story is 'Canada wins'. I hate watching games that I know the result of.
