One in 5 Canadians sees 9/11 as U.S. plot: poll

2 hours, 7 minutes ago

OTTAWA (Reuters) -
One in five Canadians believes the attacks on the United States on September 11, 2001, had nothing to do with Osama Bin Laden and were actually a plot by influential Americans, according to a poll released on Monday.

The Ipsos-Reid poll found that 22 percent of Canadians, and 26 percent of young Canadians, agree with the conspiracy theory. The number was the highest, at 32 percent, in Quebec, which has shown the least support for the U.S. war on terror.

The poll asked if the events of September 11, "including the thousands of American citizens who lost their lives on that day, were actually orchestrated by a group of highly influential Americans and others as part of a wider global conspiracy to profit from and gain power and who are actually protecting Osama Bin Laden from being captured."

"Conspiracy theories are popular, as we all know," said Ipsos pollster Paul Orovan.

Sixty-six percent said the actions were carried out by Bin Laden's disciples as an attack on the United States and as part of a global war of terror against Western and affluent democracies.

Twelve percent said neither or refused to answer.

The random telephone survey of 1,000 adult Canadians was conducted for CanWest News Service and Global News from August 29-31. Such a sample is considered accurate to within 3.1 percentage points, 19 times out of 20.

I think you can determine from various polls that 20-30% of the population is uninformed about many things. Its unfortunate that they are allowed to vote.

The Canadian numbers are actually
lower than similary surveys I've seen
in the US.

I don't think there's a conspiracy but I do
understand why this administration's
authenticity is doubted. Too many secretive
games being played.
Oh, pleeeeze, these idiots see a conspiracy behind their sour milk, that was true before Bush was POTUS and it will be true after. You have to stop seeing everything as a Bush issue.

The internet as largely why conspiracy theories have increased in the last few years. Never before have so many, been able to share so much, that had so little to do with reality.

It is generally estimated, that 1/3 of americans believe the government was somehow involved, or knew in advance of the 8/11 attacks.

As far as your ideas on voting goes, it would appear that the US is well on its way to disfranchise a significant part of the population from the voting.

No doubt a lot of the problem is down to the militantly leftist national broadcasting corporation here, which has given enormous amounts of publicity to the various 9/11 tinfoil ravings. While they generally stop short of endorsing these theories openly, they do treat them as legitimate political analyses worthy of being discussed seriously.

At first I thought 9/11 was just Osama giving the US some 'payback' for reneging on promises Ronnie Reagan made to Osama, Ronnie's ally back then, about rebuliding Afghannistan in the 80's after the Soviets were beaten there.

With more and more coming out on what was going on it the background a lot of people in the US are wondering who was really behind 9/11.

Anyways......
Here's an interesting news clip compilation, of events that fateful day.
Note how all the major newscasters from this clip, even those from Faux news, were in agreement here!
Everyone's First Reaction Was that a "Controlled Demolition" had taken place on 9/11.......that is ...Before the official mind control script kicked in and remains 5 years to the day!

Blaming the CBC for the fact that 20 per cent of Canadians are out of their minds seems a little crazy. But then that is one of the marks of a "conspiracy theory" believer no matter what side of the political spectrum he inhabits.

PNAC is no "conspiracy theory" ... nor is their agenda of US world domination, nor the fact that people such as Elliott Abrams, Richard L. Armitage, William J. Bennett, Jeffrey Bergner, John Bolton, Paula Dobriansky, Francis Fukuyama, Robert Kagan, Zalmay Khalilzad, William Kristol, Richard Perle, Peter W. Rodman, Donald Rumsfeld, William Schneider, Jr. Vin Weber, Paul Wolfowitz, R. James Woolsey, Robert B. Zoellick, (all fine Neo-cons, and most members or former members of the current admin) are signatures to this BS plan.

They may not have planned 9/11, but they sure as hell had smiles on their ugly pusses when it happened and they saw a perfect opportunity to implement their evil fucked up plans.

I'll tell you all what the conspiracy is ....

Part of the Islamic extremists plan to bring down the west is to get half the people living over here turned against their own government. Thus, we see now that 30 - 40 percent of the western population apparently believes that 9/11 was a big conspiracy by the American Government.

Apparently you all want to see the Islamo-fascists in charge over here. Just keep believing in the conspiracy theories, and that day will be here soon enough. Then we'll see what kind of escort discussion board you guys have to spew out your nonsense on.

The Bay of Tonkin lie was considered to be just a conspiracy theory for what was it? 40 years?

Simply dismissing the possibility of the US government being able to sustain a conspiracy is not a valid argument. If the conspiracy theorists are wrong, then their facts need to be refuted ... dismissing them off hand with the belief that such a conspiracy could not be sustained for 5 years has shown to be an invalid approach.
