Here is the press conference with the two world championship contenders.

Why am I showing this when many of us don't care for chess? Because jump to 20 min 20 sec in the video where you can see the stark contrast between the glorious front stage and the good 10 people in the audience watching, just for a chuckle. How they could afford the prize fund I have no idea.

Broadcast rights? Sponsorships, some wealthy people might like chess and the status of funding such a thing.

I read years ago that they were making chess mandatory in Quebec schools. A math teacher had trouble with unruly kids. Got them all to learn chess and their learning curve went skyward. It is on my bucket list of things to do. That and playing keyboards.........

I imagine the kids in the 17 and 1800s were more truly then today's kids.

Today's kids are totally disrespectful. If anything, they need chess.

It's a good mental game.
It also helps in their future careers, like business or if you become a negotiator, settle out of courts, ect. Chess is excellent for mind expansion..
Apparently we only only use 6% of our brains. But judging by today standards it's looking like it's more at 2.

As a thick head, I can verify that.
I read somewhere that at the beginning of the 20th century, in America and Britain, for instance, Sheet music was flying off the shelves. People could read music and piano's were common in most households. My mom spoke fluent French and fairly fluent German. It was sort of expected that one could speak a second language. Don't know how she retained all her knowledge throughout her life from her early schooling.

Today was the 14th and last game of their match, both tied going into this decider. White makes a critical mistake, and here you see the rising Indian star's live reaction when he notices the mistake and his path to becoming the new world champion. Jump to 50 seconds if you want to see just his facial reaction when he spots his winning move.
