THe virus is obviously deadly...to those who have weak immunity and weak lungs. don't act like every 16 year old who's going to get it will die from it...some may even have no symptoms after getting it...the most at risk here are still the elderly and those with underlying conditions...I'm not one to complain what this government is doing to fight this problem...it's their job...I oppose the lockdown but I will abide by it...do you really think 10% of the young population will die from this Virus?
Um, I don't think I said every 16 year old is going to die or quoted in percentages for any age group. An old person with an underlying condition will not necessarily die either. My point that anyone of any age takes a risk when flaunting the guidelines regardless of age or health. Many folks do not even realize they have an underlying condition. The odds are if infected most will beat it although what damage the virus does to the body and what will it entail later in life is still up in the air.

Irrelevant question since we are already doing all those things, and I have never argued otherwise.

You're getting defensive because you have no proof that the new variant is suddenly killing more kids under 20, therefore you are needlessly fear-mongering with this thread
I stated a 16 year old died and he did from COVID. I stated more younger folks are being hospitalized by the variants and they are. If more are hospitalized the odds are we may start seeing more also passing on, I DID NOT say they are all dying!

I'm glad you cleared that up :D

Well your post is people will come in this thread to downplay the death of a 16 year old...maybe you're "up-playing" the death of a 16 year old...so far i've known 2 x teenagers died of COVID that includes this kid...they're the ones with minimal risks...

LOL....you didnt answer my question. I was just curious how many sixteen-year-olds previous to this case had died from Covid
Maybe rephrase it to something more appropriate.

How many 16 year olds have died since the variant appeared? Or how many under 21 have died since the variant?

I'm not up-playing anything, I'm stating a fact which occurred in Montreal and we know how many on this board downplay it COVID, which I'm not accusing you of doing so from past posts. The fact variants are attacking younger people and more are being hospitalized is a warning that should be taken seriously.

I'm surprised the Amigos are not in here trying to downplay and spinning the covid death of a 16-year-old.
In a statement, hospital spokesperson Florence Meney said that generally speaking, "people who die at a young age of COVID-19 are generally people who have major comorbidities."

My question was phrased just fine
Seeing as the original version has been around almost a year and a half and the variant has only been in Canada a month or two, the way the question should be worded is very significant.

One can totally discount the first 12-15 months of original covid in relation to young people dying. It is a non-factor. The new variant is what we are currently dealing with.

Not according to Phil
I never said it shouldnt be taken more seriously, I merely asked if the variant had a higher death rate (compared to standard Covid-19).

He has so far failed to answer the question (in the way of stats)

Canada had 23,173 Covid deaths, how many of those were 16-year old kids??
Thanks for pointing out exactly why doctors are worried about the variants.

Young people in Canada weren't dying from the original strain. Now that we've seen a death from a variant, doctors are concerned that it won't be the only one.

But no doctors are concerned about a few blood clots from a vaccine?

For one, it was posted overnight and likely most people haven’t seen it yet. Wait for the first toilet break at work to start seeing responses...

...but even in the article posted it points out that there’s likely significant comorbidities, but it hasn’t been yet released what other illnesses the child may have been suffering from
 Hoax, right? Not actually dead, just a crisis actor...

Not true, the original strain has killed young people as well.

You are completely clueless!

30 blood clots possibly from AZ after administered to 18 million people, 40% of folks with COVID suffer blood clots. You tell me, should they stop recommending the vaccine, although I suspect I know the answer you are going to throw out.

In the USA " About 500 to 600 adolescents die from cancer each year."
Thankfully covidiots aren't putting them at increased risk of more deaths or cancer related sufferings, unlike with covid & long covid and its increasingly more deadly variants.

One issue has easy fixes while the other doesn't even with of all the wealth of research put into it.
