Barger also should've been running to break up the double play.
The irony here is Barger slowed down to avoid the double play.
To avoid the tag as he was running right into the second baseman just before the ball arrives with time to then throw to first. It was heads up on Barger here and not another baserunning blunder.

As for running through home plate that's easy to say knowing the catcher extended out to catch the ball.
If it was thrown high and the catcher extends up that's a potential huge collision. Just before the ball arrives he's staring at the catcher standing right on the plate.

it was heads up on Barger to avoid the tag from who? I'm suggesting a hit-and-run or something more aggressive.

We must not be talking about the same play. It was actually Kirk going from 1st to 2nd that slowed down to avoid the tag. Barger was running from 2nd to 3rd and he didn't stop. If you're referring to the final play of the game Barger didn't stop running there either. Hindsight is always 20/20. If you know for certain Kirk is going to hit a broken bat grounder then sure do the hit and run. However, if Kirk swings and misses and Barger gets thrown out then the game is over or if it's a ball and Kirk doesn't swing and Barger gets thrown out you lose your sacrifice opportunity since now there's 2 outs with 2 strikes on Kirk.

was the series lost because of a broken bat swing?

Last thing kirk wants to do is hit grounder but the freakin bat broke

Who freakin said that was the reason they lost.
Dodgers executed when it mattered most and the pressure was at it's peak both on offense and defense. Excellent management by Roberts as well. They won because of Yamamoto and clutch home runs.

strongly disagree

Jays outplayed Dodgers by almost every metric

Dodgers won because there were 3 very close games and they won them all

Such games are chance wins

Such things happen in sports

C'est la vie

The Jays are such chokers. They'll probably never get back to another world series for at least 10 years. This was the Jays big chance and they simply blew it.

Let's not pinch a Loafs on the Jays.

As much as Russ Atkins has been maligned , his strategy of defense first came to within one run of winning it all. There's some tough decisions to be made in the off-season.

Yes, but the Jays didn't win it all. I would have felt much better if the Dodgers beat the Jays 4-0. In my opinion, Varsho and Lukes especially really let the Jays down in games 6 and 7. The Jays will never live this world series loss down, and like I said in my previous post, the Jays won't get back to the world series for at least 10 years.

I think the Jays should resign Bo. Rogers can easily afford it. With that being said, some other good free agents might be available, if Bo is asking for way too much money.
