They exaggerated the whole situation.
That aluminum cover is not a structural part.
It’s only a very thin cover that attaches to other plastic shields.
If the cover hits the road it will make a loud scraping noise but it won’t cause you to loose control.

I'd never use or recommend CT for any car repairs unless there was no other choice. And even then I'd take it to my regular mechanic to check what was done. I've heard too many horror stories over the years. BUT I will concede there are some (but few) okay CT service centers...just a matter of finding them and knowing they keep reliable & experienced mechanics on hand and not just apprentices.

This may be true, but it still doesn't justify CT using zip ties without informing the customer so they can arrange for it to be properly fastened.

A few years ago, they totalled my car in a test drive after nearly a thousand dollars of brake work and other maintenance. The tech was charged with careless driving.
Sorry for laughing, that really sucks for you, but it made me laugh and shake my head.

Edit: They once forgot to change the oil on an oil change for me. Unfortunately I didn't check the dip until a few days after, but I got it changed elswhere before any harm was done. They also once bent the body to get at a hard to reach light. I'll use them on an out of warranty vehicle that is at the junker point in it's life, but nothing else.

CTC Stores are franchises. Independently owned and operated. That's why some are great and others are shit. You need to weed them out. And personally, I've had worse issues with dealerships for my cars than CTC or independent garages. (a VW dealer forgot to tighten the oil drain plug after an oil change so I almost blew an engine (ha... I said blew! lol) on the 401 to London. Noticed oil covering back window. Stopped car. Watched it all pour out on the ground. So... it's all a big crap shoot! Some dealers are great. Some are shit. 🤷‍♂️

A zip tie does the same job as the original fastener.
Most customers don’t care or want nothing to do with the dealership.

I'd be livid if zip ties were used and not told about it. I agree that dealerships can be rip-offs price-wise wise but they do not usually take shortcuts. I'd rather pay extra and have the job done right than have some douchebag unlicensed mechanic drop in zip ties besides securing a wire or hose. My choice is my trusted mechanic I've used for years.
