What a stupid thought^^^I would rather see the Jays fall off the map this month, so that they're sellers rather than buyers at the deadline. If they go 'all in' at the end of this month, they have the potential to possibly win a Wild Card berth, and perhaps get their first post season win in about ten years. This will only extend the rebuild.
I think they could get some good value for their expiring contracts, (Bichette, Scherzer, Bassit), and they may be able to pawn Springer and Gausman's last years onto somebody else - both are signed through 2026. If they don't, more than half of the 2026 budget will be eaten by the contracts of Guererro, Santander, Giminez, Kirk, Springer and Gausman and Hoffman, with a ton of holes to fill.
They aren't real contenders this year; they're a middle of the pack team on a hot streak. It's like when a midfield driver is leading an F1 race because all of the better cars have already made their pit stop.
Rogers, as always, has the 'We'll worry about that later" approach, delaying the inevitable for as long as possible.
Maybe I need to get used to him, but there's something about Joe Siddall's commentating I dont like.Buck Martinez has suffered a health setback,, miss his colour commentating. He's optimistic he'll be back soon
4 HB is a bit of a concern.

Casey Candaele is part of the only 'mother and son' duo in which both played professional baseball. His mom, Helen played in 495 games across five seasons of the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League, (1944-49), despite not being 'All-American'; she was born in Vancouver. Not bad for a guy who was a so-so major leaguer.
They need to replace her with Emily Agard. Way overdue for someone younger in that role.Hazel Mae is looking very sexy tonight in her red pantsuit.
I agree, except all the Blue Jay players will wanna bang her and that's probably not gonna go over well with managementThey need to replace her with Emily Agard. Way overdue for someone younger in that role
Then what's the damn point of playing this game at all? Just keep rebuilding and getting prospects? In light of your pessimistic Blue Jay views you show towards this team and although you like to poke fun at me for suggesting we sign Bellinger or Santander, don't forget to also poke fun at the fact that I've said more than once over the past two years that Barger is someone that needs to be here now and I saw something special in this guy. I'm not a pessimist, Philip. I'm a realist. Regardless of any moves they make, the Blue Jays will not advance beyond the Wild Card round this year. To me, going all in to try to sneak in as the fifth or sixth seed is a recipe for future disaster. Then what's the damn point of playing this game at all? Just keep rebuilding and getting prospects? This team has a lot of chemistry from people that were basically journeyman, except now only having a chance to prove themselves at this level… Plus, Springer is having a good year and is a great leader… If Vlad turns it on, and then imagine Santander provides a late season boost...this team will be very dangerous. I wouldn't touch the OFFENCE with a 10 foot pole.
Why on earth would you want to waste all of this and be a seller at the trade deadline?
Philip
Would you say the Baltimore Orioles recent rebuild was a success?I'm not a pessimist, Philip. I'm a realist. Play for this year, and you get essentially nothing in return for Bichette, Bassit and Scherzer, and you're stuck with Gausman and Springer on expiring contracts next year.
As of right now, the Jays are eighth in the AL in run differential. That's often a better indicator of true performance than won-lost record.
If i wanted to get rich in the near future, I'd invest in stocks which are under priced with a high upside to increase in value. I wouldn't buy a handful of scratch lottery tickets. What you see as optimism is, to me, gullibility. The Jays would win the World Series this year, if this was a Disney movie made for a 'family' audience, ie: little kids. it won't happen in real life.
Stupidest thing ever said.As of right now, the Jays are eighth in the AL in run differential. That's often a better indicator of true performance than won-lost record.
