I wonder how simple it would be to cut off electrical power to the U.S.

Are there on/off breakers at the Canada/U.S. border that could simply do that, or is the grid much more complex than that?

It seems to me a tariff on power to the U.S. would be a more simple strategy, and one much less likely to cause violent blow-back from the U.S. states affected...

25% tariff on power. Then the Americans can't complain because they just did the same shit to us.

It would be real simple.

My guess if Ford really goes ahead with it he'll start with rolling blackouts.
A blackout that only lasts 30 minutes for example.
And then he slowly increases it

They can't refuse it. The entire Midwest relies on it. It's their sole supply chain. Anything else and gas doubles in price. You think USA citizens will accept that? To invade Canada?

Lol. 5 buck a gallon turns elections.
The Citizens aren’t making decisions right now; Trump is running the show, every day he’s got a surprise for us. Let’s see what happens. Ford is bluffing, he’s not going to shut down energy to New York.

I guess you haven't seen the GOP town halls recently. If Trump wants his tax cut budget done he needs votes. And the tradition of Maverick politicians is alive and well in the USA.

Once those Tariffs hit I think you will be surprised at Canadain reaction. We are nice and polite, until we are not. Cut off, doubtful, huge surcharge? Oh ya, I can see that.

And remember it's the US consumer that pays the increased costs on all tariffs. The supply chain is do integrated a shit ton if businesses will be affected. Breweries need hops and aluminum. Construction needs soft wood. I can list a lot more.

Border inspection slow downs. Increased paperwork. The actual cost increases. Americans won't stand for it.

Probably not.

I'm also wondering if maybe we should use our Canadian uranium to start making a few hundred nuclear weapons. We may have to start protecting ourselves from not only Russians, but also Americans 😂
Pull out of NPT and CTBT and build nukes.
Or build in secret.
Any country bordering a nuclear weapons state is justified in having nukes.

I highly doubt troops would be used. It would be the end of the USA. Trade with Nations would cease. A world boycott would happen.

And btw it would, to actually bring it off, require a war declaration in Congress and use of the draft. You think that will happen?

It's not like Afghanistan or Iraq where the point was to destroy the infrastructure. Then rebuild it. In this case they HAVE TO KEEP IT INTACT. Or the whole point of the operation is a failure. People forget we SHARE the largest Undefended border. If 1% of Canada decides to go full guerrilla that's 400,000 potential terrorists who can strike back unless they cover the entire 49th parallel and all the water in between. The means to do that doesn't exist. The massive buildup to do it, train troops, and then hold it, as well as the cost?

Think about it.
Where r u and your special ops, momma's basement grade, cyber war games, dungeons and dragons, fools brigade planning to strike first?

US consumer may not always pay the added cost; in many cases the US buyer will negotiate/force Canadian seller to reduce their price in lieu of the added tariff, so it’s the Canadian seller that absorbs the added tariff related cost (not in all cases). In other cases the US buyer will switch to a US seller where possible to avoid paying the tariff.

lol that war would last only a few hours and we won’t be the winners.
That war would never start if we had a few hundred nuclear weapons. They're a deterrent, that's all. And a pretty good one, considering they haven't been used by anyone since WW2.

You don't get it. The volume we supply means there is on other option, and US sellers WILL RAISE PRICES to cash in. We will not lower prices. Manuhas no choice. And supply chains dont turn on a dime.

How are gonna replace Alberta Crude in the mid west? 30% of soft wood is imported from us. The supply chain list is endless. Car manufacturers?

Be realistic, neighbours cannot nuke each other, or even threaten to nuke each other.

What do you think happens if a nuke blows on Toronto? You think Chicago and Detroit or NY will be safe?

Ford just got the vote of confidence from Ontarian's last week. I don't see Ford bluffing. He really wants to show the US that the centre of Canada means business.

Fords just puffing out his chest and chirping like he's a tuff guy because that's the mandate he just ran on. It's illegal for any electrical utility to cut off a customers power in the winter in Ontario to my understanding so how do you think the US would react to power being cut to hospitals and nursing homes? Residences where kids live in below freezing temps? Putting any Americans life at risk.

"I'd do it and smile" he says. Fuck off Ford you're talking like you're a 17 year old rich kid punk high school weed dealer again.

I get why Fords in panic mode thought- having just shelled out billions in corporate welfare to Stellantis and Volkswagen to build plants here catering to the WEF EV market. Then has his bestie Trudeau slap 100% tariffs on Chinese EVs to cut out competition. Now having a shit fit that Trump wants to do the same to moving the auto industry back to Michigan and Ohio.

Ford is desperate to show all of you he is a significant rich kid punk- like Trump actually is.

Ford tried and tried to get a meeting with Trump at Mar-a-Logo. Now his fat RINO ass is hurt because he was ignored unlike another Premier who's Provence will be just fine.

I don't think this is the catastrophe that everybody's making it out to be.
Canada will somehow find a way to cope with these tariffs.

Also my gut feeling tells me that after a few weeks or months Trump will find a reason to cancel the tariffs once his economy goes down the shitter. He will say he got concessions from Canada/China/Mexico, and claim victory. And that will be the end of it
