Car wrecks involving couples happen all the time. And plane crashes.
For common people, maybe the dog tragically starves to death afterwards.
The ultra rich should consider these things, and should spread some of that damn money around to avoid tragedies from small possibilities.
If you got $80 million and your kids take little interest in your life, get a personal assistant or two in your daily life.

the 1 year old GSD next door once in a while. The puppy was so
powerful I could get bruises when the wrestling got too rough.
From a recent photo taken of Hackman he was barely recognizable.

and the dogs. His wife had to be a superwoman. But then how could
a women in excellent health and shape drop dead running
to fetch medication for her man?

I watched Billionaire Murders on Crave, and it seemed to me that Kevin Donovan implied that Jonathon Sherman (the son) was involved in some way. One of the daughters also had been quoted as saying she felt that her brother had some role in it. What the motive would be is unclear.
It's either the Toronto Police know who did it and really want to ensure they have their ducks in a row so they get a conviction at trial; or they are completely clueless and this is a cold case.
This trophy wife did alright. The night John was shot, she got her boyfriend of a couple of years to move into the apartment she shared with John. And got all the money. And lived to not tell the tale.
