I would like to comment on Bobby Orr’s remarks. I think Bobby has taken too many pucks to his head. Let me explain .So Bobby says we should RESPECT Gretky’s right to be friends with who he chooses. Sorry Bobby no; he has the RIGHT to be friends with anyone he chooses but we don’t have to respect it at all. When he chooses to be friends with a man who continually insults are country openly attacks it and wishes are country to not exist and be absorbed by the USA I’m sorry there are consequences to your choices Wayne. You clearly have no interest in defending and standing up for your country. End of story.
You nailed it. The idea that we should "respect" a Canadian sports icon who has chosen to side with a US president who says Canada has no right to exist is beyond ridiculous. Canada made Gretzky who he became, but he sides with Trump. He has every right to do that, but to insinuate Gretzky is entitled to our respect is just fucking stupid.

What's the American left? The Democrats? They're hardly "left". Most don't even support universal healthcare, which is a basic human right in civilized countries.
You touch an important point here. US democrats are barely left. AOC is hated by many in her own party as she`s too left... But her voice is simply to get in the US what we have in Canada!

The US is the only developed country without universal healthcare. This is crazy...

You want left, come here in Quebec I will get you to meet Québec Solidaire. Their leader is Manon Massé. No one knows if she`s a he or a she as she looks like a she but with a mustache :ROFLMAO:

Exactly. "Left", to me, is demanding the workers own the means of production. We have had Canadian politicians who have or have come close to espousing this belief. I see nothing of the sort in the US.

Exactly what i was saying.
I'd like to hear one of them tell us what this supposed "syndrome" is. As far as I can tell, all it is is pointing out a mistake or flaw of trump, even if it's valid. Or maybe there is no such thing as a valid criticism because he is perfect. Maybe that perception is the actual derangement.

I've pointed out a number of times the distinct and consistent symptoms of trump Devotee Syndrome. Let's see a list of common traits of the people with this supposed "TDS" that the righties keep chanting. Can someone please describe it and why it is a "derangement"?

Maybe he needs McSorely to stand at the mike with him.
Haha, I used something similar somewhere else. Gretzky spent is hockey career cowering behind McSorely and Semenko, now he's cowering behind Trump.

But he's off the hook. I am almost certain Team Canada will never again ask him to be honorary captain or to be involved with Team Canada in any way.

I'm not sure if I support it...we pay for it thru our taxes, I can't remember the last time I went to a hospital for myself, I don't go to a doctor very often maybe once a year at the most...I'm not using it nearly as much as I pay into it.
How naive can someone be?

Seriously. 2 questions.

1)Are you invulnerable? Do you think your time will never come? Total naivete.
2)Even if you haven't used it, it's ok with you if your loved ones have to pay out of pocket for cancer treatment, stroke, some long term rehab? Total selfishness.

Ever hear of Private Healthcare?

I compare it to car/property insurance…I’ve paid that for 50 years and have gotten very little back from it…I could pay Health insurance the way I pay car insurance.

Intelligent enough for MAGA, maybe. LOL

Remember. "trump loves the poorly educated." His words.
"We won with young. We won with old. We won with highly educated. We won with poorly educated. I love the poorly educated."...The exact quote...Use the entire quote for context.

That might work well for you but we have to think of the greater whole. A nation needs to take of it's citizens.

I've talked to a number of people about this lately and have proposed the idea of imposing an additional 1% GST on top of what we pay already. The stipulation is that it would go directly into healthcare. Not one person has disagreed with this notion.

Getting back to the thread...I believe in retrospect Wayne should have walked out with a Canadian jersey on. He didn't read the room on this one.

Yes, Wayne walking out with a Canadian jersey on would have been a good idea…but calling him a traitor is unfair.

Giving the thumbs up to someone on the US bench, I mean, he knows a lot of people, that was taken the wrong way.
