Elon is tasked with handling maybe 5% of what the presidents job entails? Why are people up in arms about it? He's not out there negotiating trade deals or figuring out how to end wars. Why is everyone so upset at the idea of cutting wasteful spending? Government bureaucrats have proven themselves inadequate at managing budgets and finances.

Your congressman did. That's how it gets funded. Take it up with them. That's how it works in representative government. Write them a letter. They mandated it.

Nobody voted for DEI in the congress or senate! If my congressmen ever did I would immediately fund the opposition candidate.
Congress did not approve it and they just started spending on it. Yes I know that you know textbook how a bill gets passed but that is not what is happening in reality. These agencies are just spending without any approval.

My point isn't even that there is no waste. Am sure there is in every government.
My point is that when such waste is identified proper protocols need to be followed.
Elon needs to bring it to Congress and present why the money spent isn't having the impact desired or how it is wasteful.
Right now he is doing two things. Posting screenshots from usaspending.gov, and highlighting programs in a simplified way so it looks silly.
While he is doing the real work he does not want you to see.
Which is to destroy agencies like CFPB that protect consumers and provide oversight into businesses.
