Out of the 14 acts, I'd say that the one with the greatest career is probably Mariah Carey. However, musically she comes last. She's a NO.

Next biggest act would be Oasis. They were and are douchebags. I'd give them a hard NO just for that, but I wouldn't be surprised if they get in.

Bad Company were big, successful, had an extended career and had musical cred. I'd give them a YES.

Chubby Checker had only 1 really big hit and was mainly a novelty act based on that one hit. Plus his name was a rip off of a truly great artist, Fats Domino. NO.

I can see the White Stripes getting in, but for all intents and purposes, it's Jack White.

List of Rock n Roll Hall of Fame inductees

It's nice to see that Miles Davis was inducted. I saw him at Theatre St-Denis in Montreal in July, 1983, and I would definitely consider his performance to have been a Rock concert.

I can't agree with @Fun For All about Billy Idol.

Some names that I think should be included: Roy Buchanan, Lester Bangs, Meat Loaf/ Jim Steinman, MFSB and The Wrecking Crew.

Unlike the Baseball Hall of Fame, the use of performance enhancing drugs does not exclude anyone from eligibility.

Clearly they don't pick rock and roll only. I would pick Bad company, Joe Cocker, Checker should be recognized and I like Mana', they're a Mexican band very successful, the singer has a interesting voice.

I'd love to see Jethro Tull and Supertramp be inducted one day, but I'm not holding my breath.

Bad Company; Absolutely Yes!
Joe Cocker; No, never. Besides he won over Metallica once. Enough said.
Billy Idol; Yes
Joy Division; Hard No.
Maria Carey and Cindy Lauper; Fuck No! Not ever.
Mana. Who? I'm going with no...
Oasis; NO, and NO, not ever. They're assholes with like two songs.
Outkast; this shows that they have lost direction.
White Stipes; Why? Seriously, because of Jack White? I'm a hard NO on this one too.
Phish; Now they're getting silly..

I think almost all of us can agree on Bad Company.

I'd also vote Mariah Carey, Billy Idol and Joy Division/New Order.

Jack White is a serious asshole. Howwwever, I do give him credit for being innovate and creative. In an era where there are so many copycats, he has a unique sound and has not been afraid to take chances. He has made a shit ton of music in a relatively short time and collaborated with many excellent artists and drew his inspirations from many different genres. He is a talent.

But he is definitely not for everyone.
