I went to the garage to smoke a cigar during the half time show. Don't know who Kendrick Lamar is.

If you're going to have a solo act, it has to be special.

I always give art and music lots of room for failure or success. Meaning: they're both so subjective that I dismiss people who say "that's shit, or that's amazing". I base both on my own opinions and moods etc. So since I am an old GenX-er who's lived through a LOT of musical genres that I initially hated but grew to love, I gave it a shot. I watched it. I tried. I honestly just don't get it. I'm not the target audience... I get that. But...I was just bored. I couldn't find anything to like about it. Of course my daughter and her friends loved it... so there ya go!

But... if I said next year's SuperBowl entertainment would be a spoken word artist with a backing track and dancers on stage, I'd get laughed out of the room. But...to me... what's the difference?!

Anyhoo... back to looking at boobs!

That is the thing. It was just boring.

There was a hype man for 5 mins who didn’t have a mic and just showing off bling and holding a football???? That is not what a hype man does.

There was no real choreography. Just some formations basically.

There was no pyrotechnics. No flashily nothing but some PlayStation buttons that most thought was from squid games so that attempted diss to Sony went over most people’s head.

This wasn’t a “show”. A lot of rappers can put on a show. This was a man walking around with a mic, saying some rhymes all to diss Drake and Sony. He got the diss in but will go down in history as one of the worst halftime shows.

In other news, a kid from Toronto died while celebrating the game by falling from a street lamp post he had climbed up.

"The 18-year-old, identified as Temple University student T.S., suffered brain trauma after a fall on 15th and Market streets on Sunday night and was then placed on life support before dying at Jefferson Hospital.

T.S., a native of Toronto, Canada, was a member of the school’s gymnastics team and was majoring in exercise and sport science.

The man's injury was just one of many incidents that occurred as fans celebrated the Eagles win Sunday. Four people were arrested for various offenses. One person stabbed a man, while two people assaulted police officers separately, according to Philadelphia Police. "

Yeah Lamar's performance was more like theatre art rather than music concert.

But hey, if the kids like it, that's not a bad thing either.

What a shit half time show, only thing that caught my eye was the Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme, that's the car I drove in the 80's, then I tuned out as game was a blowout.

Bring back real music for the show like:
Agreed, I think it's time they featured a rock band. It certainly couldn't be worse than Lamar's performance. The videos I saw of the fan's reaction, tell me most weren't thrilled with the show either.

Here's a memorable performance, one that the crowd was truly into.

Tom Petty... RIP

BTW, the car Lamar featured was a Buick Grand National.

As my good friend Prem might say, "eh Roger Godell fangula". Give the people what they want.

It'll probably never happen. Metallica was asked to do it in 2016:

"In 2016, Metallica's James Hetfield said that the band's chance to perform at the Super Bowl had passed and he had no intention of pursuing the gig. “I can't dance, I can't jump around, I'm not an acrobat, I'm not a variety show, you know? We are artists."

I respect their reasons for declining, but it would undoubtedly be one of the best half-time shows of all time.

James Hetfield has always been tough on himself, St Anger was too personal at it bombed. He doesn't see that like Prince and Bruce Springsteen, Metallica would bring the house down. We are artists, Hetfield isn't classically trained, yet he has an open mind. Embracing classical music gave Metallica legs.

The now legendary 2019 concert.

Next year bring Olivia Rodrigo. Even the big belly hard core dude won't be able to go take a piss... She's so freaking hot. In concert she currently has no equivalent.

The NFL missed a golden opportunity. They should have had both Kendrick Lamar AND Drake on the stage at the same time "rapping it out".

It's all relative.

It bombed in the view of some fans and critics, but the album was released 20 years into their career and went double platinum in the US alone.

Those numbers are considered a hit album for any other musician, including brand new artists/bands.

Ironically Drake would put on a far better halftime show than Lamar. He has more range... sings and raps. More melodic songs, more well known outside of the hip-hop world.
