What core beliefs are they throwing overboard? Ultimately the preserved free trade through 1 Trump admin, and for 7 years. What would PP achieve other then being a complete supplicant.
We have to remember that is 2015 when Trudeau took over from Harper Canada's GDP growth was the worst among the G7 Nations thanks to Harper's failures to grow the Economy after inheriting a strong economy from Paul Martin.

In answer to the question posted in this thread: I doubt the present government will resolve the Tariff issue, the renegotiation of CUSMA, etc. before the next election. Their job at this point is to maintain the status quo and avoid any unnecessary confrontations with Trump until the next election. In the mean time, they need to maintain a united Team Canada approach with the provinces and leave the next government with a coherent set of alliances to work with when they take over.
Where the next government takes it from there is up to them but in the meantime the Libs need to keep the country working together for whomever takes over.
In any case, I think the new government will have its hands full in dealing with Trump regardless of which party wins. If it turns out to be PP then fine- I wish him well.

It really depends on how comprehensive a renogotiation the USA is looking for. If they wanna discuss a short list of irritants, then sure that can happen. If its a soup to nuts clean sheet then that will be 2026 probably.
No one really even knows what Trump wants.

My money is on the Honorable, Honest Doug Ford, aka Captain CanuckleHead of the North and parts in between his ears.
He called a 17-month early election just so he can save and defend Ontario and Canuckle and negotiate conmano-a-conmano with his idol Trump.
He's doing this all this just for us, wowzers!
