It's a turn of speech. Not literal. Yet.

Give it a few more months before the shooting and bombs start.
It's hilariously hamfisted, too.
A ten-second clip and "they called for violence"?
The sheer disdain the right wing view their supporters with is kind of amazing.

Don't you know? It's one of those MAGA selective cases where he didn't really mean what he said.

That may be another trait of of trump Devotee Syndrome, tDS. Only someone with tDS knows when to take him literally and when not to. Normal non-cultist people don't have that ability. The only catch is that they can only make that differentiation after the fact depending on how much backlash he gets. They never know in real time, though. Have you noticed they can only tell when they are defending him.
I reckon if you're an 11 year old boy, or somebody who has a disability, then not taking that persons words literally is an OK plan.
If they are supposedly the most powerful person in the world, why should he be treated like the examples above? He's not about 11, nor disabled.
What it means you have a man, and a media infrastructure that is design to continually allow him to evade responsibility for his words.

At least his Devotees go along with that.
