The battleground states dont have the migrants.
Which was my point that the majority of Americans dont even come into contact with migrants yet they are so anti-immigrant because they drank the MAGA koolaid.
just because they don't have in their state doesn't mean it doesn't tap on their $$$...lol...even the votes from blue cities were obvious there was a massive improvement on red votes....

Americans are very astute and in aggregate pragmatic. If you understand history, you know that in 1910, the U.S. (and Canada) needed low-skilled immigrants to fill up new factories during massive industrialization.
The U.S. percentage of foreign born is in-line with the U.K. and France. Canada as would be expected is about 20%. It's no coincidence at these levels all these countries are experiencing push back from the electorate.

View attachment 401161
Canada is not actually experiencing the pushback you suggest. That is because we overcame hostility to immigration a couple of decades ago.

If you heed the rightie rants, they're about the "carbon tax" or "Trudeau is a dictator". And not about immigration levels.

No. It's a breach of the immigration act. Not a felony.
Crossing the US border illegally is a felony. It's a federal crime that can result in criminal sanctions, including fines and imprisonment.

Punishment

  • First offense: Fines and up to six months in prison
  • Subsequent offenses: Fines and up to two years in prison
  • Re-entry after multiple misdemeanors: Fines and up to ten years in prison
  • Re-entry after aggravated felony: Fines and up to twenty years in prison
Other consequences Deportation, A five-year bar to return to the US, and A permanent record of the offense.

Go right ahead and answer, then.
It's a stupid question so I guess we should be thanking you for a stupid answer.

Of course, Trump shouldn't even flirt with trying to run in 2028.

It's stupid because the Constitution won't be amended. Not only is there virtually no support, there is likely not enough time to even make it happen by 2028 . As you know, it's a long, long process that requires vast majorities in Congress and 3/4 of the States.

That won't prevent silly comments by right wing legislators that will get people on social media lathered up.

It makes no difference to the taxpayer.
Taxpayers do not know where their money goes and they feel no impacts of it.
They pay taxes based on their salary level, and that is it.
And I dont know about the red shift in blue cities.
Some of those cities I mentioned voted overwhelmingly for Harris. (NYC was 65% I think).
As I said the MAGA kool aid and propaganda.

Surely if the immigrants are legal, then productivity increases, because immigrants acquire new skills and move up the job chain to better jobs and better wages????

The problem resides in the USA where the illegal farm workers are a permanent slave class that cannot move up the food chain.
but you support these illegal farm workers continue to do "slave work" (your words) because nobody will pick fruits for Americans?

that's your choice

no doubt he has lied
i have yet to meet anyone who has not lied at some point
Please let me know when you find a politician who has not lied.
That will be a unicorn to observe

please see above

Does Donald Trump make outlandish statements / claims, many of which are inaccurate/ down right false ?
Of course he does
That has been common knowledge for years.

Do I expect him to continue making outlandish statements / claims, many of which are inaccurate/ down right false ?
yes

Does he have an abrasive personality ?
Absolutely
That is part of the package with an overblown ego.

I find it strange you were advised about the risks to Canada and yet you are focused on Trumps common knowledge personality traits and ensuring that you can label him.

label away. It does not bother him in the least
he is not going away for at least 4 years
Yes, we have vastly different opinions on how a president should conduct himself.

I appreciate the fact that we could have a civil discourse despite our differences.

That sounds a lot like you clinging to "legalistic treaties and process".

I mean, your only objection here is that it would be too complicated to change and an assertion of "virtually no support" without any data to back that up.

I didn't say they do not want to know.
If you think you know, please provide some information on where the taxpayer money from Kansas went to and how much of it went to providing services for migrants in NYC.

Similar to a few here, you have never been much for Democratic institutions and process. Voters aren't worth much unless they affirm your views of the world. You like to cling to legalistic treaties and process.

This is what will happen whether you like it or not. In 2027-2028, American voters will look at the results on controlling immigration and they will look at the costs. They will make judgements on how successful the Trump effort was.

It's not that hard to understand unless your view is hardened.
So in your view, countries can breach treaties whenever they feel like it???

Who tf actually thinks like that, Earp?!

Do you also think individuals can breach contracts because they're moody from time to time.

Not to mention that NAFTA has a plethora of arbitration clauses that Trump could resort to if he genuinely wanted to renegotiate or arbitrate some issues with the treaty. In actual fact, he doesn't, because he's so fucking stupid that Stephen Miller or some resident WH goblin told the old man that "tariffs were the new thing" and now the senile old fuck wants to "tariff" everyone.

Unless you're Hitler, you and your country follow and respect treaties. Do you suddenly stop paying the rent one day because you think you should have been charged $20.00 less on your lease?? This is sad, pathetic, ranting stuff even by your own tawdry standards.

Oh and btw, your hero just rescinded his EO cutting funding to medicaid and meals on wheels for seniors. Guess that was an Ooopsy-poo, huh?!

And there it is...Trump working off the mandate to remove illegal immigrants...that's what battleground states wanted him to do...he's delivering...

it's quite rare to have countries breach treaties...but if you have Mexico basically letting a caravan of migrants through to reach the US border...they are breaking the treaties themselves and causing a threat to US national security...

It does not answer my question.
I asked you to show me some information on how much of the taxpayer money from Kansas goes to NYC.
It proves the voter from a non blue city voted anti-immigration because they drank the MAGA koolaid and not because they had some first hand exposure to migrants.

Are you still arguing that anyone who shows up at our Southern border whether they have traveled through Mexico or flew into Mexico should be granted asylum?
Because that is what I am hearing.

From what I understand, the USMCA is under review next year. I suspect the Trump Administration will push for more open trade without conditions. That's just a hunch. Right now, I think he finds its satisfying to be "pantsing" Trudeau. What can you say? He overreacts and does stupid things in reaction to stupid things.

In the scheme of things, the effort to reshape a new trade order is a much bigger deal than any negotiations with Canada. China and Germany are likely the big targets.

Ahhh, so that's why you a soft spot for authoritarian regimes around the globe?
I wonder if you have read anything.

You cannot understand the last 100 years history of the world, if you have not read Marx, or have had somebody explain his writings to you.

Marx' analysis and writings are that important, today as 150 years ago.
