Wow, look at that. Mandrill actually got something right for onceNo. The idea of the nation state stems from the French Revolution, that's true.
But socialism as a concept dates from the 1830's or 40's.

Republicans will lose 2028 in my opinion.Newsom has zero chance of ever becoming president.
Those nations were groups of tribes or ethnic groups ruled by a king. There were nations looong before the French revolution. Ethopia formed as a nation around 10 centuary BC. It existed long before someone put pen to paper. Same with socilaism. When cavemen got together to keep the fire burning and get some sleep, that was socilism. Hunting parties.-socilaism.
What sweeping changes has he accomplished?Look at the sweeping changes Trump has done in a week.
That was when the concept was identified, not created. By the time of the French revolution there were already major nations. (I said nation not nation state). Even the concept of national flags goes back to well centuaries BC. Look at the various tribes in Canada that consider theselves nations, they go back looong before white man even showed up in N. America. Those nations were groups of tribes or ethnic groups ruled by a king.
The concept of the state as being associated and identified with a particular ethno-cultural grouping stems from the first part of the Nineteenth Century.
Many will be challenged but he is operating quickly. You see the landscape and political climate changing here based on how aggressive he is being. What sweeping changes has he accomplished?
Please explain?
A bunch of executive orders.
Many will be challenged in courts.
An executive order can be rescinded as fast as it is signed.
Deportations:Many will be challenged but he is operating quickly. You see the landscape and political climate changing here based on how aggressive he is being.
DEI in government offices taken down.
National emergency in southern border. Deportation of illigals who committed criminal acts or with history already under way. I see ICE officers all over NYC already
Withdrawal form Paris climate agreement and WHO
Pardons for J6
You’re not here but you can feel the culture shifting around you here towards Trump.
People are just chanting Trump on NYC streets - which even for me is kinda bizarre
Mr SLICK is way too SLICK, even Californians are thinking he’s way too SLICK for his own good.Newsom has zero chance of ever becoming president.
I understand your analysis. Your dislike of MAGA and Trump clouds your judgement. It wasn’t like this for the last four years. There is a clear cultural shift going on and the people who live in the United States feel it. There is no photo opp happening outside the few pictures you see on the news.Deportations:
Deportations of illegals who commit crimes, were always ongoing.
This isn't new action by Trump although it is being presented in that way via photo ops.
I once again point to Biden deporting more than Trump did.
Obama deported even more than that. He was mocked as "deporter in chief".
Paris and WHO:
Don't see the benefit to the US other than saving some money.
It can always be rejoined as Biden did in 2021.
If there is another pandemic (unlikely) I do not think it would bode well under the current administration.
DEI
This one is for show.
I dont believe the federal government had such a strong DEI program in the first place because I read that 61% of federal employees were white, with the senior executives being 76% white. 56% were men overall and 62% were men at the senior executive level.
I dont see this changing.
DEI at the federal level must have been some mandatory anti-black racism training.
Yeah, that will go away now.
This can come back in a renamed format in the future when the EO is rescinded.
For private companies, some may roll back their DEI programs, but some are holding fast.
I do not foresee the workplace and the schools being flooded with straight white men, just because DEI is rolled back.
Pardons
That one is to stay.
Count it as a win and hope those that were pardoned do not return to their criminal ways.
Culture shift and hysteria
Yup, I call it MAGA hysteria.
I already said that this is MAGA at its peak.
It will slowly go down from here.
Usually there is a lot of noise during a Presidents first 100 days and then it peters out.
These shifts you observe are usually fickle.
But we just saw a photo op yesterday being posted when ICE deportations of criminals have always been happening.I understand your analysis. Your dislike of MAGA and Trump clouds your judgement. It wasn’t like this for the last four years. There is a clear cultural shift going on and the people who live in the United States feel it. There is no photo opp happening.
It is not like the first presidency. I remember the feeling.
It was a feeling of dread that white supremecists had hikacked America and fear from broader population. There is none of that happening with the exception of the progressive crowd. This isn’t a prognostication or defense of Trump. I’m just telling you what I see in a area that is mostly democrat.
I ain't no boomer dude. I am not an old fart like you.Boomer Canadian liberals are 10 years behind the culture.
You won't understand why he doesn't have a shot. But that's okay.
It tends to be a 10 year cycle. We shall see where it is in four years.Failed gop economy is what brought back democrats for 40 years now. Dems always bring back the best economy which the gop destroys. Typical pattern…
I would say it is the public opinion switch on immigration. Go back ten years and look at the polling numbers. Today a majority now support mass deportation. That's a big shift. One piece of legislation just passed on this. I think more may follow. There is now bipartisan concensus. What sweeping changes has he accomplished?
Please explain?
A bunch of executive orders.
Many will be challenged in courts.

When there is economic difficulty, immigrants are always held responsible.I would say it is the public opinion switch on immigration. Go back ten years and look at the polling numbers. Today a majority now support mass deportation. That's a big shift. One piece of legislation just passed on this. I think more may follow. There is now bipartisan concensus.
But let's see in a year where things are on trade and foreign wars.
What criteria are you using for "viable" here?Governor Gavin Newsom has his critics, but there are no other viable candidates on the horizon.
DeSantis, Cruz = Generic mealy mouthed weasel politicians. What criteria are you using for "viable" here?
Since Reagan the cycle as been gop leaves a bad economy that the Dems turns over. Just look it up.It tends to be a 10 year cycle. We shall see where it is in four years.
Newsom is to the left of everybody,lol......Josh Shapiro is their best candidate.Mr SLICK is way too SLICK, even Californians are thinking he’s way too SLICK for his own good.
He’ll be history soon.
With the USA leaving Paris and the WHO, it allows others to take over them like China. The USA has over extended itself and I think the Trump admin realizes that.Deportations:
Deportations of illegals who commit crimes, were always ongoing.

DEI
This one is for show.
I dont believe the federal government was diverse in the first place because I read that 61% of federal employees were white, with the senior executives being 76% white. 56% were men overall and 62% were men at the senior executive level.
I dont see this changing.
DEI has very little to do with hiring/firing.
Anti-discrimination laws already exist.
DEI at the federal level is just some mandatory anti-black racism training etc.
Yeah, that will go away now.
But it is essentially a solution looking for a problem.
This can come back in a renamed format in the future when the EO is rescinded.
For private companies, some may roll back their DEI programs, but some are holding fast.
I do not foresee the workplace and the schools being flooded with straight white men, just because DEI is rolled back because there is no way you can prove you hired any person for any of their racial, sexual orientation or gender characteristics anyway.
Pardons
That one is to stay.
Count it as a win and hope those that were pardoned do not return to their criminal ways.
