A lot of interesting names on the list…Ichiro was an easy choice, I have no problem with CC and Wagner getting in either but I didn’t realize they had such good careers.

I missed earlier that Dave Parker got in from the veterans committee…he was the best player in MLB for a short time.

"To the Veteran's Committee" I wanna see Dale Murphy in the Hall of Fame

It's a whole album of songs about baseball. It's pretty cool. Mike Mills and Peter Buck from REM are in the group.

He has as much chance as Ernie Whitt.
He should be..He mashed in the PED era and I'll bet my bottom dollar that he didn't partake.

If I remember properly his dad ran a drug and alcohol rehab center in Puerto Rico..He was genuine role model.

They should adjust the WAR for his era to account for all the cheaters...I know you can't but it's not fair to the honest players.

As a Yankee fan I used to salivate on the numbers he would have put up in pinstripes. He would have had multiple 50 homerun campaigns.

What gets me is the Blue Jays just let him walk...

Dale Murphy is an interesting HOF discussion. He was certainly one of the top players most of the 80s. I also don't think there are many back-to-back MVPs not in the Hall.

The obvious issue is his numbers dropped precipitously after age 31.

One idiot voter who wanted to be a smart ass.

Mays, Junior, Ripken, Ted Williams, Brett, and many others did not get 100%.
Certainly an idiot. The importance of inducting the first Japanese player into the Hall was lost on this voter.

Beltran deserves to be in. He got over 70% of the writers votes just short of the requisite 75%. I'd say a number of those votes shifted to Wagner since he was in his last year of eligibility. Wagner's K/9 was 11.9 which I believe ranks highest amongst all closers with over 300 SV in their career. Heck the guy they called K-Rod was only 10.5. So I'd say he was deserving.

The PED era and now swing for the fences era have distorted comps. You really have to know baseball and how the game was played every decade.

Ya whoever didn't vote for Ichiro should have their voting status revoked.

Closers are very overrated. Wagner is no exception. Their impact on a game and a team's season is vastly inflated.

I would say bad relief pitchers (and there are a lot) make the good closers look very important.

His post season stats are not good at all...I always take that into consideration.

You should give the songs on that album a listen. It's for true fans of baseball.

Aside from the one on Dale Murphy there's ones on Hank Aaron, one discussing how many foul characters have played MLB (They Played Baseball), the influx of Latina players (Hola America), keeping stats (Box Scores), The Oakland A's (self-explanatory), Chin Music. There's even one on Larry Yount, Robin's brother, who never made it and how it affected him. Here's a link to a bunch of their songs.
