Netflix is raising its prices in Canada.

The streaming giant says the monthly cost of its cheapest offering – the standard plan with ads – is going up by $2 to $7.99 per month.

The standard plan without ads will increase by $2.50 per month to $18.99 while the premium plan jumps $3 per month to $23.99.

There’s no change in the fees to add an extra member.

The new prices take effect immediately for new subscribers, while existing members will see the change on their next bill.

A letter to shareholders says the increase is due to programming investments.

Netflix says it’s also changing fees across most plans in the United States, Portugal and Argentina.

I doubt that many terbites will cancel their Netflix subscriptions because of the price increases.

Still a darn good value for the vast amount of both old and new entertainment available...

The annual increase, even for the premium plan, is less than the cost of one disappointing 30 minute spa or escort session...

Take the plan with adds. For the price difference its worth it as the adds simply gives you a little break sometimes.

I suspect that mine won't go up for a few years.

My condo board negotiated a contract with Netflix that just renewed a short while ago. We have a pretty sweet deal with Rogers that includes cable, including Netflix and Crave and Starz and internet with a faster upload speed of 1.5 gigs and it's under $60. My Prime TV is part of my Amazon membership. There's no way that I can watch everything.

Fuck all these pay streams, I watch the free streams like, PlutoTV, Tubi, Xumo, Fawsome, Filmrise and Zoneify: all kinds of flicks I've never seen before ( old and fairly recent ones, good and bad ones) , lots of women in prison flicks with uncensored tits and ass!

There are all kinds of sites where you can find live sports streams. For example, say you want to watch a hockey game. Just go to Yandex, type in NHL live stream, pick a site, pick a game and poof now you're watching your hockey game.

As for the topic at hand. Netflix used to be good back in the day but now that all the content that used to be on Netflix is on a dozen other streaming services I've gone back to the high seas. I'm not paying for Netflix and Amazon Prime and Disney+ and Crave and whatever else is out there. What made Netflix so great was all that content was in one place for a reasonable price and no ads. Most of what's on Netflix is of little interest to me anyways, what few gems exist are hardly a justification to pay for it. Free streaming sites are abundant, just as easy to use and don't require me to pay for a service and still be subjected to ads

Might just as well be watching regular TV. 24 dollars month is Ludacris especially when there's so much free content out there.

I pay 5.99 cdn per month with adds. But the adds are not bad actually. They do not play when you open the app or start viewing something.

Now that I have IPTV no need for Netflix anymore. Most of the stuff on there is crap anyway.

I just canceled Netflix. LOL.

So I sign up for a month or two to one streaming site and watch everything I want to watch. Then cancel and sign up for a different service and repeat. I sign up for Disney when it has its 1.99/month for 3 months deal. Paramount just did one for 3 months for like 3.99. I will be canceling this weekend since the three months is up.

I watch all the free streams as well as Fmovies. Since I watch on a prime firestick, skipping to ads and pop-ups are easy.

I have a relative who has Bell through their co-op. They have the box and I use the app with their account. So I get all my TV plus crave and HBO.

There is basically nothing I can’t watch.

I think that I should report you. You are exploiting these struggling start-ups.

Streaming services have this strategy of starting with very amazingly low prices, then increase gradually for a price that makes them profit without us noticing much. I have stopped paying mine after noticing

Cancelling all of the streamings I had one by one as the prices get higher... Plus the new alternative methods are so much better than the old days.
