Can you prove there is an agenda and show what it looks like and how it affects students? The point he's making is there should be no agenda in the classroom, other than core-education itself (math english, science).

All education has an agenda. The point he's making is there should be no agenda in the classroom, other than core-education itself (math english, science).
But not all agendas have to be in education. All education has an agenda.
Nothing wrong with that as long as the agenda ensures teaching core subjects and prepares students for life.
Maybe you eliminate the current Dept of Education and build a new one back up. At a national level I think a base stem curriculum needs to be enforced whether through dept of education or some other agency. No guidelines outside these core subjects should be enforced. Right now, federal funds are still deployed on some of these non academic base metrics. The point he's making is there should be no agenda in the classroom, other than core-education itself (math english, science).
The problem with this statement is education in the US is mostly handled on a state level. The curriculum is not controlled federally.
Plus you need an overseeing body on all activity from a macro-level.
I dont believe it is, even today. But not all agendas have to be in education.
I dont see what you are proposing to be different from how it is today.Maybe you eliminate the current Dept of Education and build a new one back up. I believe states should have autonomy to control the rest of curriculum without federal intervention. This is where they can enforce things like having a systematic racism curriculum etc. Some states will prosper, some will not. Similar to free market capitalism, the states the produce academic results will see an influx of people, and as a result money from these people flowing in. My hope is that this will provide a blueprint of what works and what doesn’t.
When you rely on federal intervention, you have only a few people making the decisions. This is where bias comes in and creates an inefficient school system.
''Treat people how you want to be treated''...There now you don't need those classes. But teaching about LGBTQ issues or systemic racism doesn't preclude one from working hard.
It is good for straight people to know about LGBTQ issues and for caucasians to know about systemic racism, so they behave in more conscientious ways when they do encounter diverse people in their professional and personal life.
School should prepare students for both professional success and social integration.
If people really lived by that adage, we wouldn't have had discrimination of all kinds and a need for this to be taught in schools.''Treat people how you want to be treated''...There now you don't need those classes.
I'm sorry to inform you, but your belief is wrong.I dont believe it is, even today.
So provide proof for the claim.I'm sorry to inform you, but your belief is wrong.
All this is unneeded and would be too convoluted. Probably out of their jurisdiction.Maybe you eliminate the current Dept of Education and build a new one back up. I don't want this thread to get out of control, so I'll say look up Ron DeSantis and Florida Education. So provide proof for the claim.
What are all these "agendas" and how they are in education.
Can you prove there is an agenda and show what it looks like and how it affects students?
I am aware of his ignorance.I don't want this thread to get out of control, so I'll say look up Ron DeSantis and Florida Education.
Maybe you are correct. I appreciate the disagreement without the baseless cop out of diverting to Trump, MAGA, or social intolerance. All this is unneeded and would be too convoluted. Probably out of their jurisdiction.
It should all be delegated to the state gov and they form the curriculum. The federal gov should only look at the aggregate outcome as that data can be used to identify advantages/disadvantages (ex. trades, sciences etc).
States like California and New York already have a major advantages over ones like Nebraska. It should be up to the state to implement change and the people vote on what needs to be changed.
Why on earth would you think that trump/Musk would build a new public education system after cutting the Dept of Education?Maybe you eliminate the current Dept of Education and build a new one back up.
As desiricardo said, maybe there needs to be federal oversight. Like I mentioned before Frankie, you Palestinian loving fool. You need to eliminate the whole organization to eliminate the wokeness built in. You can’t simply restructure or leave any portion of the current one remaining. Why on earth would you think that trump/Musk would build a new public education system after cutting the Dept of Education?
you want to cancel black history from the school curriculum? LOL.Let’s keep it on education and not lgbtq or Christianity or Black history or anything outside stem. This is why American education is failing .
However test scores to get into good schools are higher and more competitive than ever. What you see in the media doesn’t represent the top percentage of kids that are trying like hell just to get into a top 100 college at this point.
if I want a good education you can still get it contingent you’re born into a family that promotes this and supplements on top of what the kids are learning in school.
Because that's how you get more students to meet the standard. There's only two ways to achieve this. Why do you think materials should be dumbed down
Then you get back to why Americans are so dumb, the topic of this thread. Why do we punish success and reward failure.Because that's how you get more students to meet the standard. There's only two ways to achieve this.
Either they come up to the standard, which decades of intervention have failed to do. Or the standard comes down to them.
