I would call them the “Cleveland clowns” as the media in Toronto does, but I actually like Cleveland and to call these two bozos that name would be an insult to that city. This past summer I had an unbelievably incredible dealing with a few people from Cleveland and I have so much respect for everything about that city.

I didn't trust Shapiro being in charge of renovations to the Rogers Centre after seeing the butcher job he did with Progressive Filed in Cleveland. No coincidence they're doing another major renovation to it again not too long since.

If he gives us a perennial contender, as he promised, I wouldn't give a shit what the stadium is like. And neither would the fans.

…..if the Blue Jays were in the ALCS with Teoscar, I would settle for The Mistake By The Lake.

Yes but seeing how he has his hands on both and seeing the results from his past. Do you even trust the guy to build a doll house from Ikea. Let alone a winning baseball team and the stadium they play in.

Absolutely not. I've been a detractor of his since day one, when he forced AA out. He's a control freak and had his puppet in Atkins. 9 years is a fuck of a long time to deliver on what you promised. He has failed miserably.

i’ll never forget in 2015 when they forced AA out, I was listening to the Jeff Blair show in the morning on the fan radio station, and Jeff Blair said “AA probably left because Mark Shapiro likes his fingers in every pie.”

Jays are wasted.

Trade with cleveland was OK as Horwitz was not going to be an everday player at second base but
Gimenez is a golden glove second baseman who will play everday but it does not solve any of their bigger issues

They got relief problems and need another quality starter as you know starters will go down

They need a quality top 5 in the batting order and have only 2

They will not get three more quality hitters as well as solve their pitching issues

Their farm system is weak

bichette and vlad may well be gone next year with pitching staff aging

They need to pull the plug and clean house and build up farm system and forget about winning for two years but management cannot see the obvious

Management of this team is a lost cause. They weren't successful in Cleveland and they've done nothing here stop going to games and following the team and they may get the message.

Just to be fair, the Sporting News named Shapiro executive of the year in 2005 and 2007 when he was with Cleveland.

Tanking doesn’t work in baseball.

Hard to figure out what the team is trying to do. Reports that they were trying to sign Ohtani and now Soto, but all they have invested in is Garcia and Gimenez. After Atkins was returned to the fold It sort of soured me on the future.

rebuiling a team is not tanking

It worked for Baltimore and Toronto has deeper pockets
and excellant trade bait for a real contender

I can see another year of trading deadline sell offs

And how long did that take the Orioles? Also how does mlse sell a bigger market like Toronto that they’ll lose on purpose for multiple seasons.
