You guys may have heard about Hailey Welch, aka. the "Hawk Tuah" girl.

Well, apparently this D-list Celebrity launched a Cryptocurrency ($HAWK), which was available to Retail Investors. It surged to a Market Cap of $490M before losing 95% of its value almost immediately; anyone who was silly enough to buy into this lost everything.

Back in the day, we called this a "Pump and Dump" scam.

Hawk Tuah girl: Online star faces crypto coin criticism

Ms Welch had previously distributed free Hawk tokens to some fans ahead of the launch across social media.

Hawk launched on the Solana blockchain at around 22:00 GMT on Wednesday, and its market capitalisation soared to highs of $490m shortly after.

However it fell sharply from this high to around $60m just 20 minutes later.

Fans and investors have accused Ms Welch and her team of "misleading" and "betraying" them and suggested the launch had been a "rug pull" - where promoters of a cryptocurrency draw in buyers, only to stop trading activity and make off with money raised from sales.

A community note on Ms Welch's X post contests her explanation, saying her team had been selling their Hawk coins since launch.
I should also note this IPO generated $2M in fees that are apparently parked in some account in Grand Cayman at the moment.

I’m glad I didn’t put my life savings into it, some actually did

Following its launch on Wednesday, the HAWK coin quickly hit a market capitalization of nearly $500 million, according to Forbes. But within 20 minutes, the coin's value completely tanked and plummeted from as much as $490 million to just $41 million.

The sudden tank caused a flood of backlashfrom Welch's fans, with one person calling her out as they wrote: "I am a huge fan of Hawk Tuah but you took my life savings. I purchased your coin $Hawk that you were so excited about with my life savings and children’s college education fund as well."

I don't think Welch is sophisticated enough to understand what was happening. She met the wrong people who understood she has some degree of influence, and was used as an accessory to the fraud; in other words, she is a "useful idiot."

The Grinch in me kind of wants to see her do some jail time for this. It would be funny. She becomes an Internet meme for talking about blowjobs, and ends up going to the Big House for a Crypto Scam. The fact that she is white and somewhat attractive is bonus points as far as I'm concerned.

Maybe she can then write a book about her experiences, which will be optioned into a movie on Netflix, and the profits from said movie can go towards paying back the people who lost all their money investing in her Cryptocurrency.

I do not understand crypo so can someone explain how can anyone get into it if it
is for retail investors?

Wait , I think I got it. The Hawk coin was intended to be used by shoppers at a retail store
but anyone can buy the coin as speculation . Am I correct?

I suspect you are right. They conned Welsh and she did not realize it was a scam

WTF does Welsh know about investing?

Investing in an idea suggested by a celeb is extremely naive.

Investors got greedy and wanted in as they saw the stock rise and
did not do due dilligence

Sad

The Paul brothers played a role in the Lana Rhodes scam, this doesn't surprise me. I would still like to know if Hwk Tuah girl would allow me to spit on her quim?
