Current rumour is that United Healthcare still hold the planned meeting yesterday. Can you fucking believe it? current searching if that's true.
They did still held the meeting! Just about 2 hours after their CEO was shot dead. The level of scumbagism is unbelievable in these folks.

I guess they had to add a last minute item to the agenda: Find a new CEO

The former CEO of GlaxoSmithKlein is the new CEO of UnitedHealth Group. It's business as usual.

Except that it isn't, Elon Musk succeed where Conrad Black failed, putting Oligarchs first. How much this will affect the North American economy remains to be seen.

If it was the annual general meeting and people travelled in for it. Corporate by-laws dictate as such. This is a company that has over 15% of the health insurance market. It's a behemoth. The show must go on.

So we in Canada may have to wait 1 year for an MRI, but when the shit hits the fan, I can assure you that Canada provides the highest quality care that is comparable to just about any developed nation out there.
Our doctors, nurses, hospital staff, ER staff are all truly great.
I have myself been a recipient of such care just this past year.
I am alive and well because this is 100% true!
Our system ain't perfect, but when you REALLY NEED IT, it's exceptionally good!

I dont think people are being gleeful.
Notice how this reaction is common both in the right and the left.
It is because people realize there is a deep injustice in the US and you yourself highlighted it.
Some people are fortunate enough to get the highest quality care possible, while others.....just die.
For example, it is 100% evil to cancel a woman's insurance, after she is diagnosed with Uterine cancer using a spurious reason such as failure to report acne.
So we in Canada may have to wait 1 year for an MRI, but when the shit hits the fan, I can assure you that Canada provides the highest quality care that is comparable to just about any developed nation out there.

For non urgent cases, yes we all wait.
And although that is not efficient, it is still JUST.
That is what people cheer for.
A CEO that led a company with a 32% denial rate, that financially ruined families and destroyed lives, was gunned down.
Not sure for what reason.
People like him do whatever they want, and always get away with it.
Doesn't matter how evil or immoral.
But considering the amount of lives he negatively impacted, his shooting would appear to be poetic justice.
would never trade Canadian Healthcare to anyone else's...the Doctors and Nurses are great, all the way to the staff...I've been to so many hospitals for my mom, kids and myself...Sickkids is amazing...st. Michaels, Mt. Sinai, Oshawa Lakeridge... I can't say the same for Lakeridge Health in Ajax...doctors are great but supporting staff are terrible...like i wouldn't go there at all, not even for emergency...

I've always gone to Toronto Western and General.
Also been to Women's College Hospital.
And a few outpatient clinics.
All great!

My experience isn't anything close to as positive as yours. In my opinion our healthcare system is broken In some cases beyond repair. Of course hospitals like Sick Kids are amazing they get so much in donations on top of government money. And they attract the best doctors and scientists.
What we desperately need in Canada is a parallel private system. Most European countries have one. Australia has one. We are antiquated here. Our doctor to patient ratio is poor. Our CT/MR to patient ratio is poor. Our wait times are appalling. Doctor quality has definitely deteriorated. Nursing quality even worse.
Japan has an interesting system. Its universal publicly funded but there is a co-pay element. Patients are responsible for 30% of the cost. This would help weed out those who abuse the system.

Quebec has a parallel private system. There are private clinics in all major cities now. From family medicine to surgery. Never understood why other provinces didn't follow. 30% of surgery done in private clinic are actually sent by public hospitals. You then get the care of a private clinic for free. The public sector found out that overall cost is similar.

I went private just to get a blood samples 2 months ago. My doctor had full results within 24h. All for 60$. Versus waiting 1-2 hours and a week for results in public clinics...

A parallel private system will poach talent from the public system and we will end up with a system where the rich can afford the best care and the majority cannot.
No thanks.
You are right that we have a shortage of doctors and MRIs and so on.
We can improve that.
But it is not true that our doctors and nurses have deteriorated in quality.
Our doctors, nurses, ER staff are all great.
There are of course bad apples here and there, but that is true of any country, and any system (public or private).

Are you talking about outpatient clinics?
We have those in Ontario too.

The problem with our Health Care system is that it's underfunded. Politicians starve the system to fund other projects, some of them pork barrel. For example the obsolete and yet to be completed Eglinton Crosstown Light Rail System has swallowed up $12.8 billion in tax payer money. Money that could have been used to train and recruit more doctors and nurses.

Here is the ratings list by the International Citizens Insurance of the best health care by country.

no full private clinics out of the public quebec insurances plan, exemple of a clinic specializing in surgery https://chirurgiemontroyal.com/en/home/ Or another one geared towards family medicine https://cliniqueleblancsavaria.ca/en/

I have a regular family doctor but once in a while i simply go private cus its faster and my regular doctors still receives full updates
I use getmaple.com sometimes.
You have to pay for the service, but it beats sitting in a hospital waiting room for 5 hours
