Oh shit. I didn't think about this. I have a DL and HC card coming in the mail.
I would strongly suggest to visit the same site where you went to renew you DL & HC. What they can do is provide a letter to show your existing cards are still valid usually for 30 days beyond the expire date. I'd ask for 60 days and see what they say given the current circumstances. I'd also ask if there's a way to have the cards sent via UPS/Puralator/FedEx even though you might end up paying more.

They better agree to something before a back to work forces them back.

I checked the expiration date and I have until February 2025 but I will definitely go in and chat with someone. Thanks.

This is the biggest Strike backfire I've ever seen: Company highly unprofitable, Losing money daily, Shippers finding alternatives, and No public support.

At this point, they should be happy to have a job. Never mind an increase.

The problem with Canada Post is they have a very strong union (CUPW), so nobody can really get fired.
If they privatize Canada Post, they can then get rid of their union, and they can fire anyone they like.
From there they can downsize and make Canada Post profitable again.
If Canada post remains a crown corporation they are just going to lose money, year after year

Sounds good to me. I'm not against public institutions, but when they've proven they're off their rocker, they need to be set straight.

What? There is a postal strike??

Imo the private couriers ain't great either. Some drivers just leave a miss delivery notice without even trying to ring you on buiding security intercom and run like hell to make their quota.

Not sure, but if they privatize Canada Post the government will probably force the new owners to deal with the union.

Then blame the market when the privatized Canada Post goes tits up.

Actually I am liking it. Sure I don't get my normally late Economist at all and will have to wait about the fallout of that Austrian Hungarian arch duke getting killed but I'm sure it's fine

On the plus side I don't have to waste time every day emptying my mailbox from garbage.

The only regular users of Canada Post is the Canadian bureaucracy. Everyone else gets money via direct deposit. Driver license and Health Card, can be sent by any courier. The government bureaucracy still hasn’t figured out communication by email.

Canada Post says it has presented the union representing some 55,000 striking postal workers with a framework to reach negotiated agreements.

A statement issued Sunday says the framework includes proposals to bring greater flexibility to the Canada Post delivery model and shows "movement on other key issues" in the labour dispute that's stretching into the holiday season.

It says Canada Post officials are hoping the proposals will "reignite discussions" and the parties can work toward final agreements with the support of mediators.

It adds that Canada Post understands the impact the national strike by members of the Canadian Union of Postal Workers is having across the country, and the corporation remains committed to negotiating new collective agreements.

The framework was presented to the union on Sunday.

The move comes after the union filed an unfair labour practice complaint with the Canada Industrial Relations Board over the layoffs of striking employees, saying the layoffs are an "intimidation tactic" that violates the Canada Labour Code.

No details have been provided on the extent of the layoffs, which Canada Post has said are temporary.

Ronald Reagan told any Air Traffic Controllers who weren't happy with their ob, pay and working conditions who didn't show up for work would be considered as having quit their jobs.

As they earned, don't play bullshit poker with Reagan.

If Trudeau said anything like that the posties would go to Parliament Hill and moon him in contempt! :ROFLMAO:

Putin would have destroyed these people too lmfao. The man literally gave oligarchs options when he took over and there was no room for negotiations.
