Enough is enough. Even if the strike is settled today the backlog is so great that snail-mailed Holiday cards and gifts are not likely to be delivered in time for Christmas.
Small businesses, many who depend on the holiday season for the bulk of their yearly profits, are being severely compromised.
But the CRA doesn't care. If a small enterprise uses Canada Post to mail in their current deductions at source to the CRA by December 15, they are being advised that the remittances must be delivered by hand to the CRA drop box in their area by December 15, or penalties and interest may ensue. The same goes for those people who are required to pay income tax instalments for 2025, due on Dec. 15, 2024, if they don't pay electronically.
Imho, if the strike isn't settled by December 31st it's time for the Canadian government to grow a set of balls and force binding arbitration...
