Many on the left were making fun of the assassination attempt...doesn't get worse than that.
The left introduced political discourse the moment that Trump said he was running for office in 2015 because they feared he would win and/or they mocked the very thought of him running.

As for joking about the attempted assassination....It was wrong. I never condoned it. But, let's remember how the right acted when Paul Pelosi was attacked by a right-wing lunatic with a hammer. It became conspiracies and jokes. It was Paul's lover or some bullshit. So, again, the right can dish but cannot take it...
But, I will say this: Nobody, and I mean NOBODY (including Trump) thought he would win in 2016. He started the campaign as a way to boost his brand and his public image. He wasn't really running to change anything, with the exception of boosting his bank account. It was obvious when he won and had NO PLAN for transition. And, let's also remember that people joked about him since the 1980s. Small finger, birds nest hair, that all predates him even thinking about running.

And, no, I did not think he did a remarkable job in his first term. Let's face it, his only big achievement was a tax cut for the rich that is now seeing a higher rate for the middle class. He didn't spark a return of manufacturing jobs in the US like he promised, coal mining continues to fall, he never built his wall or repealed Obamacare...Never got his infrastructure bill passed. He's mostly all talk and little action.
Biden did a hell of a lot more in his four years, including the recovery from Trump's mishandling of Covid.
Mocking someone's laugh and intellect are totally different than mocking someone's appearance. Note: her nervous laugh was a distraction from her inexperience and low intellect when it came to politics and important issues.

Trump's net worth is in the $billions. His TV show went 15 seasons. For comparison, Seinfeld went 9 seasons. He owns countless properties and buildings. He's obviously smarter than the ones who think he isn't.
