Based on what I've seen, they are demanding but the local joints are operated by shaved apes and their standards are at the same time not to high. Having a shift manager bring an employee to tears, telling a customer that her IIRC celiac is all in her hear and spending much of the shift loudly telling other employees about his fucked up life, the way he was able to escalate any issue into full Karen mode. And that is just one person. Then you get another manager who on being told an employee has a doctors note for a physical injury asks if it applies from now or tomorrow.For most people working in HR someone that has McDonald on their resume is actually a really good thing. McDonalds is extremely rigorous with their employee and it's actually hard to work there because they ask for a lot. Stop shitting on McDonalds employee. Stop telling people to go work at McDonald's like it's an insult. You just sound privileged and condescending to regular people.

Also McDs in fine as a starter job, or a I'm retired and need something to do to get out of the house job, or a I've been a house wife all my life and the kids are gone, and it doesn't seem worth to to get some credentials for a part time gig, and I am sure the HQ jobs are good, but if you are working at a location beyond a certain age without the above qualifiers, you done fucked up, Maybe the lead manager makes something but the rest of the jobs pay shit and it's not a good gig. I know people who have worked there. Nobody in their right mind with ability says they want to work at McDs flinging burgers and then work their way to shift manager... well above the age of 10.
Also if they are being told to work hard for pretty much the least they can pay you, why not work for a more chill place. Same pay, better conditions.

I do think however if you are going to invite people to your home, you should put out some fresh towels, some clean bed sheets and make sure the fridge and pantry is full. I understand your premise to a degree, however with all due respect in case you forgot about the covid era where MSM, many members of the public, our institutions, our political leaders…who put a gun to our heads threatening our livelihoods and ability to put food on the table. During their mid term elections, voters in all 50 states voted for abortion laws to be determined at the state level and nit the federal level. Somehow the false narrative painted Trump as being against women. Plenty of strong intelligent women in the US that I personally know all voted for Trump and if he was anti-women, they wouldnt be voting for him.
Trans rights - majority believe women and women only should be in womens spaces or sports. Transgender women who have gone through male puberty shouldnt be allowed in women spaces or sports - this is actually protecting womens rights and not the lies spewed by MSM that cons hate trans people or anything like that.

It's very possible that the U.S. elections might motivate voters in Canada on all sides. I sense a lot Canadians watch and/or read U.S. news. It would be impossible for events in the U.S. to not make an impression on people.The “laugh in the face” type behaviour is a bit immature - sure but I don’t get those in Canada who think this is somehow “their” win too. There's certainly a Canadian zeitgeist, but there is also a North American culture and mood. Young Canadians must listen to Taylor Swift music so they likely know her politics.
