You're not whining like others here about a Rogan-Trump podcast, but you're sowing doubts.
Sure.
I have doubts.
First, this makes total business sense for Rogan. He's no different than other news outlets. They all need audiences. The timing of a Rogan-Trump podcast in the final days of the campaign couldn't be better for Rogan.
It's made business sense for him to have Trump on from a ratings stand point for years and for years he has insisted that Trump has begged him to do it and he has refused.
So something changed.
That's either his political views or his business views (or business situation).
Or, of course, he was simply lying all this time.
Lastly, early indications is that Rogan's team were in talks with Harris' team. I don't think Rogan wants to appear partisan.
That's been his stated reasoning (among some others) for not having Trump on in the past.
We might never know how all this went down. Perhaps Rogan leaked that he was talking to Harris and that forced Trump's hand. Now that Trump is on board to do Rogan, maybe Harris will commit to a discussion with Rogan.
I thought it was Harris's team making public she wanted to do Rogan and was in talks with him.
And yes, it does seem to have forced Trump's hand.
Or, it forced Rogan's hand.
Like you said, we don't know.
We also don't seem to know if Harris is going to do it or not.
Mitch is spamming twitter reports that Harris won't do it.
That is odd insomuch as her team was the one publicly saying they wanted to.
But who knows?
Maybe she will be on.
Maybe she won't.
If not, it will be interesting to hear the reasons given by both sides.
Maybe Rogan has restrictions on his show Harris didn't like.
Maybe Harris has restrictions on interviews Rogan didn't like.
It could be as simple as a scheduling issue (we are in the last two weeks of an election).
Trump has been cancelling events right and left, so ditching an event he didn't want for one he did may have been easy, while Harris prefers to campaign in swing states.
We will have to see if anybody says anything.
But again, I don't see Rogan trying to promote Trump but rather create buzz for his show. That's the American way.
I see Rogan as completely willing to promote Trump to a degree.
He knows his audience.
They are pro-Trump.
So being pro-Trump, but not "too much" would create the right amount of buzz for his show.
Like I said, he has claimed for years that he wouldn't have Trump on despite Trump wanting it.
