Out of curiosity, how much was the ticket for? You were going nearly 50 KM/H over the limit...That's 4 demerit points, and the fine would be about $336. I believe that NY State and Ontario have an agreement that this will hit your driving record (and double your insurance). So stupid of me . Most traffic was 20 mph over. I was briefly 30 mph over , when I passed an unmarked PoPo near Syracuse/Manchester.
Has anyone hired the equivalent of Pointts to handle a speeding ticket in the USA ?
Suggestions ? TIA
6 demerit points- recorded for 3 years - reciprocity with Ontario . Officer wouldn't tell me what the fine would be . The judge decides.... a surprise. It's not the fine , I'm worried about , it's the insurance rate increase. Last speeding ticket was 30 years ago . A learning experience. Yeah, from what I can see, it says your insurance will double almost guaranteed. The fact that the judge sets the fine is worrisome....could you also face jail time? Like, is going 25mph over the criminal threshold? You should definitely get a lawyer or paralegal.6 demerit points- recorded for 3 years - reciprocity with Ontario . The worst I had was 9 mph over in Virginia. I just paid the fine.So stupid of me . Most traffic was 20 mph over. I was briefly 30 mph over , when I passed an unmarked PoPo near Syracuse/Manchester.

"11 to 30 mph over the speed limit carries a fine of $90 to $300 plus the surcharge. In some cases a judge can impose jail as well for up to 15 days."Out of curiosity, how much will be the cost of the ticket?
You maybe lucky, the insurance may not check your tickets, they have to pay each time.6 demerit points- recorded for 3 years - reciprocity with Ontario . You should have told the cop, "hey, wait up, I'm coming with you"! LOLDecades ago, I got pulled over in my minivan with the wife and kids in the car on the Mass. Pike. I was doing about 7 mph over. I had been going with the flow, but no traffic around me when he clocked me. Cop is looking at my doc’s, wife is shooting arrows at me with her eyes and the kids are wide-eyed but quiet in the back. Just then a bright red top-down convertible driven by a platinum blonde with ‘80’s hair flies by. The cop throws my paperwork back in my lap, tells me to slow down, and takes off.
Sorry you weren’t so lucky. It feels like there is generally a lot more enforcement in the states.
I'm very sceptical about these being undetectable. The cops keep introducing new ways to find them, and it would give you a $170 fine plus 3 demerit points. Not worth the risk...
Yeah I agree the tech is always evolving so are these radar detectors to stay one step ahead. Waze is great, but it relies on humans to input the information you mentioned so there is always a potential lack of update when a speed trap gets set up…also cops can input their own info to setup fake locations to give you a false sense of security once you’ve passed them.I'm very sceptical about these being undetectable. However, I have friends that use the Waze app, which is part of Google. Other users will let people know where there are speed cameras and traps, and hopefully help you avoid them. Totally legal and less risky then being caught with a $600 radar detector that would be confiscated...
20mph over, so you were doing 85 mph and keeping up with traffic. I do a fair amount of travel on the thruway and I can't say I've ever experienced that.So stupid of me . Most traffic was 20 mph over. I was briefly 30 mph over , when I passed an unmarked PoPo near Syracuse/Manchester.

I've had many, many speeding tickets in home state of PA as well as Ohio, NY and Ontario. I just go to the court hearing, agree to pay fine in total; but ask that the reported speed be reduced to avoid points being add to record in PA. Works every time. Keeps from having to take test to avoid license suspension or getting insurance increase. You do not need an attorney. Just go yourself. In the end they just want the money!!Yeah I agree the tech is always evolving so are these radar detectors to stay one step ahead. If you love playing the heavy foot game the best way to play is spend $$$ on the tech and connected paralegals.
