I think you are making generalizations that are more applicable to male adults and female minors.
None of the information in this case yields this bit of information, but in most all of the cases that have gone to trial, it was the underaged male who made the initial contact with the female teacher, usually via social media.
If a teen male robbed a convenience store at 16 or 17, he would likely be tried as an adult in Missouri. But a guy finds his female teacher on social media often at a vulnerable point in her life, flirts with her, manages to bang her, and society wants to put her in jail. I simply don’t get it.
And once again, the majority of these cases happen in rural America. There ain’t young adult mixers when most everyone either gets married at 18, or gets the hell out of the place at 18. And there is no being anonymous in little towns among married folks who want to have affairs. And unlike men, women can’t get to a big city like Chicago every once in a while for a conference and see a sex worker.
So I feel sorry for her and don‘t think she deserves Jail or even criminal prosecution. And I am still skeptical that this young man was harmed. And what I meant was that the increased size of teens today makes them seem more adult like than decades ago. Another psychological factor making it more likely for her to be receptive to his advances is that teens work jobs now. They don’t have the time to pursue as many extracurricular school activities that would have made him seem more like a kid to her.
I guess we don’t agree because I think similar principles apply whether is male adult-female teen vs female adult-male teen (or for that matter male-male, female-female). And I done feel sorry for her at all. If a hot blonde 16 year old with firm 34c boobs and a tight ass has a crush on her married 40 year old math teacher (how many girls in high school had crushes on older “cool” male teacher??? A lot!) and starts messaging him privately on social media, has he got the green light to fuck her????
Do I think the punishment here should be the same as if someone was violently raped? Or if the kid was 11 years old?? Hell no. Should mitigating factors such as the teen was initiating it be considered, of course. I’ve stated this in other similar conversations on this board, but I was a teen in a similar situation. At 15 an older woman known to my family, seemed to “take a shine to me”. In fact it probably started at at least age 14 TBH. She learned about my similar tastes in music, and used that to develop a “connection”, she loaned me albums etc. Sometimes casually commented on how I was gonna get so many girlfriends cause I was good looking and looked older than my age (I did look older and at 15 I was the go to guy to buy booze for my buds). It was obvious from what she said that the fact I was young was a huge turn on for her. She fed me lines like “now you have more experience so you can please your future girlfriends” and “I could tell you wanted it because you were so hard and came so quick”. And “I’ve wanted to do this for so long” - remember at this point I was 15.
Afterward did I high five my friends? Fuck no, I felt like a weirdo perv that fucked the “old lady” across the street. I felt guilty that I’d had sex with a guy’s wife I’d known since I was a little kid, whose kids I had played with (even tho she did claim that he’d be ok with it, as they had an “open relationship” tho at the same time I had to keep it very secret). Did I feel like a stud who now knew how to please women, and could pick up any hot chick I wanted? No, it made me feel weird and awkward, and made it quite difficult to feel comfortable trying to start dating girls my age, and start to initiate sexual activity with them. I was scared shitless I’d got her pregnant. She told me I could come back for more any time, I definitely did not want to and in fact dreaded any time I’d have to have brief contact with her.
At that age, I was already a little bit bit shy and introverted, and this made me a lot more self conscious and awkward. I’d had minimal experience with girls before (maybe made out a couple times). Made my first experience having sex an unpleasant one. Did I at least look at myself and say “good job man, you got laid, and this older lady thought you were hot!” No, I felt like a creep, and had to feel that way every time she came over to see my parents, and I felt like a bit of a perv and a freak, fucking an older lady who I didn’t really even find attractive. This stuck with me for quite a while as a teen and young man, and definitely impacted my early relationships with girls my own age.
Don’t feel too sorry for me, I’ve dealt with it and grown past it, and can talk about it freely now (to select people, a very few close friends, psychiatrists and you anon TERB people here lol). I don’t blame this incident for all of my problems, but i do remember it as the start of me having of a negative view of myself as a person. The Laquey High School math teacher was arrested in January after a student reported their illicit relationship to a school resource officer. The witness showed cops a photo of the victim’s scratched-up back, which Clifton-Carmack allegedly mauled when the two had sex in the witness’s driveway.
Clifton-Carmack had previously gotten in trouble with school officials for getting too close to students, the witness told police.
She initially denied the illegal affair when detectives questioned her in December 2023 — and headed to Texas for the holidays, telling her roommates she was not coming back, the report said.
She was arrested in Texas in January and charged with first-degree endangering the welfare of a child, second-degree statutory rape, sexual contact with a student and fourth-degree child molestation.

The boy’s father, Mark Creighton, was also arrested for endangering the welfare of a child after another witness told cops that the dad knew about the sexual relationship and did not report it.
Court documents revealed the father knew his son and his teacher used students as “lookouts” — particularly when they had sex during school hours.

Creighton “knew of the relationship of his minor child and the 26-year-old teacher, and instead of reporting the information, he continued to cover for them and allowed the relationship to continue” and “even allowed Hailey to come over to his residence and see the victim while he was present,” prosecutors said.

This makes zero sense to me. I have no idea how old you are or where you grew up, but when I was a teenager by 15 or 16 at the latest, both me and everyone I knew had a part time job outside of school hours. Everyone. It was weird if you did not have some type of employment outside of school. Restaurant dishwasher, retail, pumping gas etc. And nearly all of us got full time employment (and as much overtime as we could get) for every summer. We weren’t all playing around at multiple extracurricular activities after school giving us no time to earn extra cash to spend for enjoyment, and also to save for our education. We all seemed plenty grown up in that respect, but still were dumbass 15-16 year olds.
I may be older than you or grew up in a far different place, but I saw less interactions between teens and adults then. I was just surmising as to why there are so many more stories of adult female teachers and 16-18 year old high school guys hooking up now. Maybe my theories were wrong, or at least some of them were.

There are so many stories because our media profits from them. Decades ago violent crime; sexual assault was more common, but less heard about. It wasn’t something people wanted to read about in the news. And in the case of sexually assaults, far less reported. Now it’s click bait. 50s, but grew up in dead-end shithole rural America before there were as many fast-food restaurants to poison everyone, and employ the kids who would otherwise have nothing to do.
So maybe I am a bit more sympathetic than big-city folks about the fucked-up things that can happen in rural U.S. places, which are even in worse shape than decades ago.
