The only thing truly sad about Ana's decision is that she exemplifies how Democrats get clued in. They literally have to experience first-hand the disastrous results of what they vote for.
They fail to make the simple connection that being soft on crime ultimately leads to more crime. They can watch a million videos or be told a million stories but it never registers. So they have to actually get robbed or beaten by a criminal before the synapses make the necessary connection.
This is why they can gleefully vote for policies that clearly undermine public safety and prosperity, and yet they're surprised when the city they once knew turns into a cesspool of crime, disease, and poverty.
