I am fine with that. I will question having a public holiday
to remember the history of slavery though. A public holiday
dedicated to remembrance of racial discrimination in the
past will also be redundant. I am also fine with the Martin
Luther King day being a national holiday.
Glad you approve :ROFLMAO: Maybe we should also ask the Jewish population to lay off of the holocaust dialogue? It's so yesterday.🤷‍♂️ I guess from your perspective the world is just full of complainers.

It is not as much about too many complainers as having too many
public holidays. I won't have much to say about a month of reconciliation
and truth for people to study the history of native Canadians.

The indigenous population of North America were wiping themselves out for thousands of years before the settlers arrived.

Nary a word is said about that...Why is that I wonder?
So kinda` like the black population in any American city, or Toronto. Seems BLM really don`t matter, except to those running it that skimmed mega millions$$$. Is BLM still going?

Not sure where you get your numbers from but things have improved drastically in the last 10 years on the rez. There is still a very high poverty rate but there are many successful businesses that didn't exist before
Correct, things like gun smuggling, cigarette and marijuana sales are thriving.

The biggest fail on the part of the government is the lack of clean drinking water, considering "the spending on Indigenous priorities has increased significantly since 2015 (181 per cent) with spending for 2023-24 estimated to be over $30.5 billion, rising further to a forecast of approximately $32 billion in 2024-25. Notably, Budget 2024 includes $2.3 billion over five years to renew existing programming."

While wearing an orange shirt once a year is a nice gesture to show your support, it's as useless as thoughts and prayers in effecting change. Made to feel bad for what happened in the past, doesn't provide clean drinking water and make communities better. It's up to the government to get things done. Now that the T&R day has come and gone, we won't hear anything more for another year. When hundreds of communities will still be without clean water, yet they've pissed away another $30 billion.

if you know anything about the violent and conquer or die nature of human history you would reconsider that remark

we each carry the burden for our own individual acts / decisions and nothing more.

do not hold me responsible for acts / decisions made hundreds of years before my time.
Self-proclaimed TERB billionaire capitalist, titans of industry, commerce and trade, of which you are the only one here on TERB, should be forced to forfeit their ill-gotten billions to right their wrongs to indigenous people and society in general.

I think it was only a couple reserves that had water issues. What's wrong with pot shops and cigarettes? The government sells booze. I would bet a large amount of funding is for infrastructure in the far north where it costs large sums of money to keep the infrastructure going. You obviously don't understand how the funding works. It's not like Trudeau drops off a plane load of cash and the natives use it to buy guns and drugs as you infer. It all has to go through the band office who allocates it to thing like funding infrastructure, housing, schooling and providing jobs. I don't know if you go to the reserve but it's nothing like the place it was several years ago

Just because you hate people who are more successful than you doesn't mean you should seek revenge by stealing their money.
Look inward.

Never argued and only stated opinion...except when I knew my argument was failing and then switched to insults.
be it in an argument, statement or an expression of opinion, the details and the flaws of your logic were exposed
and then you switched to insults
I was speaking the truth, not insulting. But I guess you win bud. You do you. Meanwhile, we owe them reparations.

the truth for you is what ever is convenient for you
it is impossible for one to speak the truth if they lie to themselves

Meanwhile, we owe them reparations.
