The season's not over yet. The Blue Jays magic number is down to 13.

Go Jays. Nobody can build a team like Shatkins.

To The Core.

Teoscar Hernandez has 99 RBIs with the LA Dodgers. He would have come back here if the Bjays made him a reasonable offer. Would have good protection for Guerrero Jr.

The Jays should do what I did a couple of hours after getting home from Loonie Dog Night: get rid of a couple of Schneiders.

Teoscar is not coming back, it wouldn't hurt the Jays to bring back Rowdy Tellez.

So I find out on the last game of the seasons that you can hear the Jays on Sirius/XM. They share the dial with Conan O'Brien Radio on channel 104. Is Ben Shulman related to Dan Shulman and is Chris La Rue related to our esteemed John LaRue?

Anthony Santander would be great protection for Vladdy (If he isn't traded in a block buster). Vladdy is well liked by other players, he could be the enticing factor in coming to T.O.

That would be as conspiratorial as thinking that the nepotism in Ben Shulman's hiring had anything to do with the release of Ben Wagner from the Jays' radio broadcast.

On the bright side, the Jays are 5th in the draft lottery. The White Sox and the A's are excluded from the draft lottery this year. Let's hope our balls bounce the right way..............err, you know what I mean.

Not going to happen, the Blue Jays will be annihilated this off-season.

The Shatkins are staying put.
Gonna agree with you on this one, unfortunately.

I can't see them making any really major moves this off-season or even 2 or 3 moderately significant ones. I'd consider Santander one of the latter.

Ain't gonna help them next year. For that, they'd be better off trading the pick. (Is that allowed in MLB?)

I don't think it's allowed in MLB. I agree it won't help for next year. My point was simply we can make some lemonade from this year's lemons.

Trading of draft picks is not permitted - with one minor exception noted below.

There are about 10 total picks granted by MLB each year somewhere in the second/third round that are handed out to smaller market teams based on some formula -- i think they might be called equalization draft picks ... Those are the only picks that can be traded.

Given the Jays market size and payroll level I doubt they get any equalization picks.

So by getting the 5th pick how many years are you willing to give Shatkins to give us a serious team. It's been 9 years and counting for their "process".

I don't connect the 5th pick with Shatkins future or any plan. It's simply one positive thing that serendipitously comes from an otherwise terrible season.
