...I like Horowitz as the number two hitter even though I recently realized, I think Horowitz is slower than John Olerud. I didn’t think it was possible to be slower than Johnny O lol.

One way to spot slow guys from statistics is to look at their career totals for stolen bases and triples. Based on that criteria, Cecil Fielder may have been the slowest ever Blue Jay, but Buck Martinez would be in the mix. Martinez: 5 SB and 10 3B in 3072 plate appearances. Cecil: 2 SB; 7 3B in 5939 PA.

John Olerud had 11 SBs and 13 3B in 9063 PA.

A truly incredible stat about Olerud is that he is one of three players in Major League Baseball, (along with Bob Watson and Michael Cuddyer), to have hit for The Cycle in both the National and American Leagues.

That’s right I forgot about him. He’s so bad, that the commentators don’t even dance around the fact, openly saying that he’s an automatic double play. No being politically correct on that. I still think 1993 John Olerud flirting with .400 and stealing zero bases takes the cake.

I saw Horowitz run on some ground balls recently and I couldn’t believe how flat footed he is going in slow motion.

This was in a Grapefruit League game, and the Yankees were using a five man infield, but when it involves Kirk, that explanation IS necessary.

FYI: Alejandro Kirk has 0 Stolen Bases and 0 Triples in 1502 Major League plate appearances. He had 5 SB and 2 3B in the minors, but none above single A level.

From all these new prospects, Addison Barger is the one that excites me the most. I feel like he has the most upside from what I’ve seen so far. I think once he finds it, and once he sits on pitches, and has an exact location plan that he’s looking for…… he’s going to be a very dangerous hitter that is capable of doing some real damage.. his bat speed is pretty damn amazing.

Barger's fielding isn't yet up to Major League standards. His fielding percentage as a third baseman is .897. When a team is presenting itself as 'pitching and defense', you can't have him on the hot corner regularly, and expend to contend.

You can't have Guerrero, Barger and Horowitz in the lineup at the same time, because they're all pretty much limited to first base and DH. You can't platoon Barger and Horwitz because they're both left handed hitters.

Biggio would not be eligible to play in the post season, because he was not part of the Braves organization prior to September 1. The Braves would be paying him the Major League minimum salary, about $87K, (19 games/162 * $744K), because the Blue Jays ate the remainder of his $4.21 Million salary, less the minimum.

How the Trade deadline works:

Players may be traded without restriction until July 31. Beginning August 1, players need to clear waivers before they can be traded. These are often players in the last year of their contract, and teams out of contention seldom make waiver claims. Any player acquired after August 31 is ineligible to play in the postseason.

There are no restrictions on trading minor league players who have been signed for at least one full year.
