@Ahri

Susur Lee moved his "Lee" restaurant from King West to Richmond St between Spadina and Bathurst. Really nice space and fantastically creative menu, perfectly executed.

His signature Singapore-Style Slaw is a party in your mouth, best shared by two.

Another of my go-to dishes is the wild caramelized black cod but the new place has some new dishes that I am in the process of trying out.

So far from the new menu items I LOVED the Burrata a la Club Chinoise and the Tuna Ceviche with Trout Caviar, citrus rococo, Asian pear, confit tomato, balsamic and mala chile oil!

Of course their "Signature" Smoked Bacon Cheeseburger Spring Rolls are so delicious!

Desserts? Black Sesame Creme Brulee in pastry gives me a mouthgasm! Same with the French and Chinese tong Yuen which is a warm hazelnut chocolate rice dumpling with a sesame creme anglaise blueberry sauce!

Check out the menu... and it is a beautifully executed comfortable elegant space.

Now Lee on the other hand is all that is good in dining in Toronto. It seems like a sin to post about Lee after posting about Chica's Shake n Bake fried chicken, but, seeing that picture of Susur's famous slaw makes me yearn for Lee.

Now my recommendation would be FK Restaurant on St. Clair between Dufferin and Bathurst.

This place is a truly great dining experience. It's a bit of hidden gem, owned by a husband and wife couple. Frank (the F in FK) is the maestro in the kitchen and his gracious wife works in the front of the restaurant The entire staff is small, but dedicated.

The food is remarkable. The menu varies by season. Locally sourced and freshly made. A go-to restaurant for a special occasion, or just a great meal after a long day at work. I recommend the strip loin steak, or the lamb with the oxtail ravioli as an app.

Halal chicken breast to me is the most tender chicken, however, of all the grocery chains I have been to only Metro stores sells it.
TBH, I apologize because it wasn't really a serious question.

I was lampooning that thread we had a few weeks back on KFC switching to Halal chicken without making it conspicuously known. There was a very heated debate that went on longer than it should have.

What makes The Bear great.

You never know who'll show up in an episode. I doubt the Chef Thomas Keller scene was scripted. Revered by the late Anthony Bourdain, someone Matty Matheson (Producer) had to have on his show. The rotisserie chicken at Costco is prepared according to his recipe.

Does Jeremy Allen White look a little intimidated.

Matty Matheson, from New Brunswick, has three restaurants in town. Hopefully I'll get to one when I'm more mobile.

Matty's dad worked for me many years ago. Just when his son started Parts and Service (?).

He was a really good guy, good worker and very proud of his son.

The management team at Parts and Labour put on a brave front as to why the popular restaurant was closing, the reality, Matty had a drinking problem.

As far as I know he's still sober, his three restaurants are: Rizzo's house of Parm, Ca Phe Rang (with his mentor) and Prime Seafood Palace. He also has a restaurant in Fort Erie, surprisingly he doesn't have a restaurant in Chicago.

Haven't been to Chicago, when I ordered the Italian Beef it was with extra Giardiniare, didn,t care much for the dip.

I heard about his drinking problem. Seems like the guy has some personal self-control issues (weight gain etc) but often this is the case with ultra-craative types. I respect his struggles, moving forward and his success!

He has some other restaurants currently open. I was at one of his places, Matty's Patty a few weeks ago.. Decent burger. Fai rprice. Will return.

Here are a list of his past and present restao's.

In a place far, far away
My problem with restaurants these days is the increased prices. Living in the Leaside area, in a condo, not $3. million house, there is a great fish and chips restaurant, The Olde Yorke, where we would order a takeout dinner, usually 2 fish and 1 chips which I would pickup. A year ago the cost was $32. I was okay with that. Three months later, ordered the exact same meal, cost was $46. The other issue I have at restaurants and bars, when paying with credit card is when you click tip, your choice starts at 18% up to 25% so I pay the bill with my cc and tip with cash maximum 15%.
Places that impose such a high tip gets 0$ from me.

I ate at a place in SE Asia, where you shoot the QR embedded on your table and from the link you get the menu and place your order etc. Someone eventually brings out your food. Then you go up to reception to pay. They automatically add a 10% service charge for really doing no wait staff activity but bringing out the food. Thus someone showing you to the open table, someone bringing the food, someone at the register to pay. Approximately 4 words spoken. ("You can sit here.")

He's one of the top chefs in the world so no surprise.
