I never been to barbarians but I always wanted to go 😃 my inner circle doesn’t know I work this job so it’s sometimes hard to suggest places that are not in everybody’s budget 😅
I recall my colleagues saying we're "going to barberians for a steak" I had never heard of them, so i instantly had some image in my head of us grabbing a broadsword and having to wrestle and slay our own cows then eat them with blood dripping down our chins whilst we howled at the moon lol.
Alas, someone else handled that end. It was great though, really enjoyed the experience. And no we didn't have to fight Gauls, Visigoths, Huns or Romans.

Would you say it’s definitely worth its price point? I am not opposed to spending money on good food but only if the quality is really there 😃

My price point was great cuz my hosts paid lol. A few years back BTW, like 2 years ago?
But I think my bacon wrapped filet mignon (10oz? Something like that) was like CAD 80-85, and i partially chose it because it was in the middle to low end of the prices for other steaks. A few offerings were in 3 digits, and a few of the yobs ordered that (but then again, they were paying lol).

If you want a steakhouse, I have to say Jacobs is still my favorite. More than Barberians, more than Harbor 60 and all the other bougie steak houses.

Also love Akira Back for modern Japanese, MSSM for omakase and Pai for Thai.

I love food and am a foodie like you!

I’m a total foodie ❤. I love trying new restaurants all over the city. What are your top restaurants in the city? Any hidden gems?
French cuisine: Cafe Boulud in the Four Seasons Hotel
Italian cuisine: Stelvio (Bathurst/Dundas)
Spanish cuisine: Bar Isabel (College/Ossington)
Steakhouse: Barberians (Yonge/Dundas)

I haven't tried Alo yet but I hear amazing things. Its got a Michelin star I believe.

I went to Jacobs when they first opened and wasn't impressed. Haven't been back since.
I've done all the steakhouses and I always go back to Barberians. I like Bardi's as well.

My problem with restaurants these days is the increased prices. Living in the Leaside area, in a condo, not $3. million house, there is a great fish and chips restaurant, The Olde Yorke, where we would order a takeout dinner, usually 2 fish and 1 chips which I would pickup. A year ago the cost was $32. I was okay with that. Three months later, ordered the exact same meal, cost was $46. The other issue I have at restaurants and bars, when paying with credit card is when you click tip, your choice starts at 18% up to 25% so I pay the bill with my cc and tip with cash maximum 15%.

Re:18% tip. There's usually an option that says "custom". Hit that instead of the percentages and type in what you want.

Go to the Junction located in Keele and Dundas St W. There are a variety of bars, restaurants, cafes and bakeries there with patios. Would recommend:

Chica's Chicken - was granted a Michelin Star for casual restaurant. Has nice chicken sandwiches especially if you like spicey.

Gotta disagree with "Chica's Chicken". I had read the hype, saw the Michelin guide, they're in my hood (ish) and I thought, "man, I gotta try these guys"

It was FUCKING AWFUL. Thankfully it was just lunch and I was by myself. It would have been embarassing if I had dragged someone with me based on the hype and not the reality.

First off, the place is a dump. Like some old shit hole Mister Doughnut from 1989 with the orange seats and all converted to cooking chicken. There's like this film of grease everywhere. From the windows, to the floor, to the seats. Didn't look like it had been cleaned whatsoever in a couple of months.

Everything, and I mean everything is deep fried. And it tastes awful. Do you remember "Shake n Bake" chicken that your mom fed you back in the 70's on Wednesday nights, only instead of baking it, they deep fry it. It's hard, caked in some sort of spicy salt concoction and so unappealing. I'm amazed they are still in business. I mean, it's about the worst dining experience I've had in Toronto in years. But it was hot, as in physically hot. I will give it that.

But you couldn't pay me to go back there.
