Well here's a thought...Palestinians are not involved in this...which is the sad part... Hamas is the ruling party...they had the obligation to protect the civilians. Had they have an ounce of care for the civilians, they would've build bunkers for them in case of war....but war with Israel isn't a cake walk... ask the PLO, ask Hezbollah, ask everyone around Israel...so what did Hamas do? they designed a strategy that puts every palestinians in the line of fire...more palestinians die for the cause....does it work? well you're buying it so it must work...

Murray, a best-selling author and associate editor of The Spectator, has since Oct. 7 become a very particular kind of intellectual superstar with his eloquent and fearless defences of Israel in the media, online, and on a speaking tour.

The Anglican-turned-atheist said he’s often baffled when asked why he supports Israel so passionately. “I still think ‘well, why wouldn’t you?’ It’s very straightforward to me.”

He pointed out how women, non-Muslims, and minorities “are all oppressed in appalling ways” in various states in the area. “If you believe in the rights of people to worship freely, think freely, speak freely, live freely, why wouldn’t you be on the side of the one free state in this region?” said Murray, 44.

“If people want to stand on the side of justice, and the right to self-defence, and have the right to life, essentially, which is what Israel is doing, then there’s no reason not to be on Israel’s side.”

The first epiphany went off during his coverage of the 2006 Lebanon war, where nothing in other media reports had any truth with what he saw on the ground. “And that was an early wake up,” he told the National Post. “I don’t like people getting away with lies, which is one of the reasons why I find myself doing what I do.”

Adding to the frustrating smog of disinformation, many other foreign reporters there continue to act like they’re on vacation: “They go out for a cocktail, and they go outside, and they stand in a flak jacket in Jerusalem, and they say they’re reporting from the ‘occupied territories.’ And then they go out for dinner. That’s quite a good war for journalists. And most wars aren’t like that.”

“And by the way, related to that is this obsession: that whatever Israel does is just front page news. If it’s Jews, it’s news.”

This obsession is acute in light of the volume of international opprobrium, and pressures being put on Israel, as opposed to non-coverage of “endless numbers of other conflicts” — including Yemen and Syria, which has seen recent deaths of 300,000 and half-million people, respectively. Pakistan, he noted, “routinely carries out the most appalling acts as a country” and “is in the process of expelling one million Afghans, forcibly. There’s not a camera there.”

It doesn’t help matters that most Muslim countries “hate the Jewish state” and “they can’t bear to see it winning. That sends them bananas.”

For the only democratic nation in the region, “the right to win, is a right, which for some reason Israel is forever being stripped of in the courts of public opinion,” he said. “Few people get away with the trick of attacking somebody, then being attacked themselves, and beginning to lose, and screaming ceasefire.”

In January, Murray interviewed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in Jerusalem. When the war first broke out, he visited the kibbutzim that were rampaged. In a recent televised row, Murray scoffed at left-wing political commentator Cenk Uygur, for being not much more than an ignorant armchair pundit, with no on-ground experience in war zone reporting.

“When people communicate by chanting endless banalities, you get the impression they’re not involved in a dialogue. One might almost get the impression they’re not in the business of thinking,” he said.

“If the people who chant ‘from the river to the sea’ and dream of abolishing Zionists have ever got their way, I would, among other things, pity them, because they would discover that they finished the work of Adolf Hitler. And if they ever came to that realization, they might have a moment of moral realization, which will not put them on the right side after all.”

Why? You don't know what an actual article is. You think that a letter to the editor is an article written by the Lancet.
