Jazzmatazz Vol. 1 by Guru was the quintessential jazz/hip hop fusion album. Even the non-singles like this one were heat. Courtney Pine on the sax. Simon "The Funky Ginger" Law on the keyboards. And Carleen Anderson with the background vocals

Great cut from the Brand New Heavies feat. N'Dea Davenport on lead vocals. Probably their 2nd best song after "Never Stop". A nice fusion of jazz and soul/r&b

"Back to Life" came out in 1989 one of the biggest tracks of my teenage years. Like massive. A game changer. This is the acapella version which hits a bit differently but so fine. Caron's vocals are sublime.

Loose Ends were another British soul band from the 80's and early 90's. I consider their Zagora LP to be one of the best r&b/soul albums of the 1980's.
"Slow Down"

"Ooh You Make Me Feel"

One of my father's favorites when I was a tiny kid, it was on a lot in the car.
Play this song and tell me you don't start dancing. 🔥🔥 Makes me want to go to a club or a roller skating rink real bad.

Nice. One of three singles from their best album The Gap Band IV (1982). Reached #2 on the R&B chart and #31 on the Hot 100. The other 2 singles, "Outstanding" and "Early in the Morning" reached #1 on the R&B chart.
