I think it is unfair to blame a politician for the actions of their security detail. Trump was not hiding behind anyone. They were actively trying to shield him, as is protocol. I remember during the parliament hill shooting, Harper was criticized for being pushed into a closet by the RCMP security detail....like he was cowardly or something. That is just not accurate or fair.

As for Trump's ear....I'm not sure what hit him, but it appears that he was grazed by a bullet. I heard someone suggest it might have been glass from a shattered teleprompter, but I don't know. I do wonder how badly damaged his ear would be. I mean, bullets tend to take chunks of flesh with them...even in when grazed...
