It's gonna cost the people of Ontario billions because Ford handed over the people of Ontario's property of Ontario Place to the private sector for 99 years.

This is just too easy!
Ontario Place will finally be somewhere worth visiting and having private investment there to build on and maintain the property is a smart move.

btw I thought you were happy about the deal Chow made with Ford? She's not complaining about it, why are you now?

The law of supply and demand.

Trickle-down economics.

Shareholders.

Dividends.

Give corporations public money and they will keep it for themselves.
You mean "keep it for themselves" by growing their businesses and employing more people?
You mean "keep it for themselves" by staying profitable so things like retirement pensions that hold their stock remain stable?

Wow! I know the price of everything has gone up, but I never realized the price of virtue signaling was also affected!

She should have waited for a virtue signal sale or at the very least, some useful coupons!
At least Lefties have a few braincells left and decided against renaming entire Dundas St which would have cost $12.7 million

You mean "for now"...hard for them to do that immediately after jacking up property taxes and they'll most likely increase TTC fares as well.
They'll lie low on that for a while and ride the square renaming virtue signaling wave a while longer.

Nah...love employees...hate public sector unions.

You hate private businesses...you know...the ones that keep the economy going and employ people.

Bite the hand that feeds much?

With it goes $2.5 billion in revenue every year and 10,000 good paying, union jobs to be replaced by minimum wages, along with the loss of taxes paid and more social services needed for minimum wage workers.
Any efficences could be captured by higher taxes, if not there is no reason why one wouldn't expect prices to go down unless the government is fixing prices. You really have no clue how shit works.
Paying people inflated wages to do a job [and inefficiently] that isn't needed only reduces the overall productivity and makes everyone poorer as it is productivity that drives overall wages not extortion. Of course this is something that your hate filled delued mind could never understand or be willing to accept.

But fine, lets nationalize everything and capture all the revenues and give everyone high paying union jobs within these nationalized economy. It worked so well in every communist country it was tried in.

You must be really, really old.
Nobody under 80 still pushes the trickle down theory.

Oh you mean private business no longer exists and funds socialism by employing people and paying taxes and driving the economy and innovation?
Must have missed the memo on that one.
What has it been replaced with?

Parking: Because vehicles actually do exist and it's really hard to bring your family in from Sudbury on a bicycle to visit Ontario Place.
$650 million for a parking lot for an international corporation at the hands of conservative lobbyists.

The smarter idea is to move it to the Ex grounds where there is land and parking already available as well as being right by upcoming transit.

Building parking costs money.
No one wants to walk far after parking their vehicle (especially people who have issues making walking difficult) especially in inclement weather.

I think you're forgetting about the rent on that lease and the permanent leasehold improvements the tenant will make to public areas of the property that will benefit all other users and enhance the value of the property.

Too easy.

Do you live in an Ayn Rand novel, skoob?
Clearly you don't live on this planet.

A reminder, this is where DoFo wants to spend $600 million on an underground parking lot.

Why is the flooding so bad?
Bad planning.

Who is doing the bad planning now?
The guy that is funding this kind of reno.

So make the spa pay for their parking lot.
You want DoFo to build it and be responsible when it floods?
Who says the parking is just for the spa? There are lots of other things going in there.
And despite the misinformation you're spreading, the $650 million is not just for parking...it's for other infrastructure improvements as well.
Final plans haven't been released.

And the key word you're missing is "lease"...the company is leasing the land from the government. That means money. It's not like they're just giving it to them for free.
The company is investing $millions into the site in addition to the spa...who else was going to do that exactly?

It's been sitting rotting for decades. It's about time something is being done and people like you are just complaining for the sake of it because it was DoFo that wants to do it. Be Honest.
