I am no expert in U.S. party politics. But isn't that voter has to be registered
as a Republican to vote against Trump in the presidential primary election?
The guy was only 18 when he registered so it is also possible he got the tactic
voting out Trump mistaken.
The fact is that Crooks was a registered Republican. His classmates have confirmed that he was more right leaning in line with The Republican Party:

Despite his interest in guns, people who knew Crooks have revealed their surprise that he was behind the assassination attempt, describing him as a loner who didn’t appear to engage in political discourse.

Former classmate Sarah D’Angelo told The Wall Street Journal that Crooks had “a few friends,” but not “a whole friend group,” and “never outwardly spoke about his political views or how much he hated Trump or anything”.

Another classmate said that his views had been “slightly right leaning,” while another told the New York Post they would have “pegged him as a Republican”.

Online records reveal that Crooks had been registered to vote as a Republican. That said, federal campaign finance reports show that he had also made a $15 contribution to a Democratic-aligned political action committee called Progressive Turnout Project on January 20, 2021.

We know nothing about his beliefs other than he registered as a Republican at least once.
I don't even know if that public record is from 2022 or 2024 or if they have proof he registered both times. (It is also possible PA is one of the states where once you are registered, you don't have to do it again unless you need to update or change something, in which case there should only be one time he did it.)

We don't know anything else.
If his social media posts or other evidence comes out, we might learn more.
Crooks was actually filmed in an ad for the firearms Youtube Channel called Demolition Ranch. He was even wearing a t-shirt with their insignia emblazoned on it.
So it aligns with his Republican views and maybe he got to despise Trump later on.
There is quite a segment of Republicans that hate Trump and may not even vote in the elections!!

Apparently JD Vance at one time was very critical of Trump. Looks like Trump got himself a boot licker.
I can imagine way back from 1980 Bush Sr might have
had to beg Reagan to pick him as his running mate after
losing out in the primary election.

Would you lick the boot of Trump whom you were once critical
of if you knew chance was he would drop dead next year which
means you would become the 48th President of the United States?

Trump's dummy of a pick called J D Vance for his running mate, is pointing the blame at Biden for the attempted assassination of Trump:

Ohio Sen. JD Vance, a top VP contender, blames Trump shooting on Biden 'rhetoric'
Vance says 'rhetoric' from Biden campaign 'led directly to President Trump's attempted assassination'

Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance, a possible Republican vice presidential pick, quickly pinned blame on President Joe Biden's campaign following an assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump Saturday at a rally in Pennsylvania.

"Today is not just some isolated incident," Vance posted on X about two hours after the incident. "The central premise of the Biden campaign is that President Donald Trump is an authoritarian fascist who must be stopped at all costs. That rhetoric led directly to President Trump's attempted assassination."

One person was killed and two others critically injured after someone fired shots from outside Trump's rally in Butler, about 40 miles from the Ohio border, according to the Secret Service. The former president raised his fist as agents took him off stage, blood visible on the side of his face.

Trump later said he was shot. A statement from the Trump campaign and Republican National Committee said he’s “doing well and grateful to law enforcement and first responders for their fast action.”

We all know that Trump is a polarizing figurehead who also incited the violence on January 6th and made the worst statements with relation to violence.
That is why Pelosi's husband was targeted and all sorts of intended violent acts on the likes of CNN and Pizzagate etc were intended.

Mitchell once again that link of yours is misleading with respect to Crooks.
crooks was currently employed rather than not having a job as claimed by that fake source of yours:

Crooks’ life after high school
Crooks worked at a nursing home as a dietary aide, according to Marcie Grimm, the administrator of Bethel Park Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation.

Grimm said in a statement to CNN that the home is “shocked and saddened” to learn of Crooks’ involvement in the attempted assassination, adding that the 20-year-old “performed his job without concern and his background check was clean.”

Only a egotistical, inept narcissist would hire a boot-licker as his V-P. I'm sure Trump would never do that...... 😹 😹 😹

Vance is a sleazebucket, but not a dummy.

Ivy League law school. Top law firm. Venture capitalist. His wife clerked for USSC judges and is now a top corporate litigator. He's an ambitious dick sucker who pretends to believe the shit porridge he serves every day on line and in the Senate.

Well it's true. Biden is probably upset that Trump is still alive.

I just interviewed
@VivekGRamaswamy
at the RNC convention about his thoughts on his longtime Law school friend
@JDVance1
JD Vance being chosen by President Trump to be Vice President. I asked Vivek if he agrees with me that JD’s previous anti-Trump vitriol can be used as a positive to inspire other former Trump haters to see the light and vote for Trump in 2024.

True dat. He's a Yale Law grad who worked as a junior for a major corporate law firm and then became a venture capitalist. His wife is a corporate litigation maven. These people pull in $$$Millions per year and will do pretty much anything to get even more. They dont' give two fucks about "America's blue collar class".

Vance is basically a younger, even more spineless and ass licking version of Ted Cruz without the big gut.

Why would Biden then condemn the attempted assassination?

Then if that is tru than maybe what vance once stated about Trump is also true:😁😆😅😂🤣

"Hillbilly Elegy"
  • The publication of Vance's bestselling memoir in 2016 brought him to national attention at a time when Trump's political rise — powered by the sorts of working-class white voters Vance's book depicted — had gripped the country.
  • During the 2016 campaign, Vance described himself as a "Never Trump guy" and calledTrump "noxious," "reprehensible" and "an idiot."
