When Putin first ran he was behind in the polls when he survived an assassination attempt. The rest is history

Bolsonaro from Brazil had the same thing happen.

Does anyone else think this was planned by Trump/Putin

If you are going to run with the "it was fake" theory, you will have to explain the dead people.
Remember the fate of the guy who attempted to assassinate
President Chen Shui-bian of Taiwan when he was running for
re-election. The only man President Chen trusted was a dead man
so his shooter ended up a dead man at a later time.

Dead people as collateral damage in political assassination
is acceptable to conspirator.

Dead people are nothing. It’s impossible to explain the bloody ear. Too close and too risky.
if it was fake it’d be a bomb that would blow up while Trump would be five minutes late or something like that

It was real and more of the stochastic terrorism that his extremism preaches.
Just some 20 year old white kid, registered as a republican.
Fortunately this can all be fixed with thoughts and prayers.

Or you could back someone who supports the rule of law.

Registered republican, well that knocks the narrative for a loop.

Also I donno, the way Trump played for the crowd soon after with the fisting is a bit "sus" It's Trump, not Teddy Roosevelt. It's almost as if he knew what was going to happen and had a response planned other than shitting his diapers. It might have been a nutty plan and based on polls unneeded, but Trump is a nutty guy so...

Not really.
It's easy enough to spin a Narrative up.

First, introduce a lot of other "random facts" that may or may not be true and count on people to only remember the ones they want to.
Second, if the Republican registration is solid and can't easily be countered, take advantage of the fact he is young. Probably no voting record.
Just remind people that anyone can register as anything and that there are always calls for people to register as the opposing party in order to mess with primaries. Then claim he was a Democratic or Antifa operative who registered republican to try and get Deep State Puppet Nikki Hayley to stop Trump and when that failed took violent action.

See?
That didn't take any effort at all to come up with that bullshit.

Trust me, "The Narrative" will take a lot more than that to be derailed.

The shooter was from Pennsylvania where voter registration, I
believe, either requires or provides the option of declaration of
party affiliation. I presume such declaration does not make the
registrant a Republican or Democrat party member. Not sure if
he had to have voted for the Republican party first to be called
a registered Republican voter.

No.
In the US, you can register with either party without having to "prove" it in any way.
There is no particular reason to believe he was involved beyond having registered in 2022 so as to maybe vote in a primary. (PA has closed primaries, if I remember.)
