Gore was talking about keeping to 1 or 1.5ºC limits. We hit 1.5ºC global temp last year for the first time though it will be a few years before that is the average and not just a warmer, El Nino year.
Same with Greta, she was talking about stopping irreversible damage.
Speaking of which, the planet will hit 1.5ºC average in a few years and is on a path towards 3-4ºC, which will totally fuck it over for humanity.
While those temps aren't likely for another 50-75 years, we are either at or within a few years of the possibility of the AMOC shutting down entirely.
