But I am disputing your faulty logic. If IQ tests are valid for comparing the same individual at different points in time, then they are equally valid for comparing different individuals.

Example: A teenager was 5'6" a year ago, and 5'9" today. By your logic, we can say he's taller now than he was a year ago. But it's invalid to compare him now to another 6'0" tall teenager and say one is presently shorter than the other.

Either we accept the measurement as accurate in both cases, or we reject it as useless for both. We can't pick and choose when it is accurate as we see fit.

The debate on IQ tests is old and pretty much settled, they have too much culturally specific material to be deemed universally useful.
But to take one and compare results later to show decline doesn't have that issue, you could use other tests on language, memory or skills for this.
