So don't go.Drag queen story time is just flat out creepy...
Don't know what that has to do with the Olympics though.
So don't go.Drag queen story time is just flat out creepy...
Science is still unsettled. There MAY be some lasting benefits but as has been said many times, all winning athletes have an advantage and the numbers of trans-athletes are too small to get reliable data.Trans athletes don't have real advantages, any advantage is short lived after hormone treatment takes effect.
Four Myths About Trans Athletes, Debunked | ACLU
Upholding trans athletes' rights requires rooting out the inaccurate beliefs underlying harmful policies sweeping through state legislatures.www.aclu.org
Guess you haven't talked to any scientists then. Is this like the belief that mainstream science thought an ice age was coming in the 70's?Scientists in the year 2000: there are only 2 genders, female XX and male is XY.
...
Except there are. For example, mothers quite often take their biologically male children into women's washrooms when they are too long to be left alone. There are always exceptions. It's just up to society to determine which exemptions are warranted....
There are certain spaces reserved for biological females. That means, biological males are not allowed in those spaces. No exceptions.
...
How does that impact your life?...
But a massive fucking chunk of a dude like Bruce Jenner who decides one day that he's a fucking lady?!?!?!?.... C'mon! The guy just likes dressing up in lady's clothes and the added fuss and attention is a bonus.
The science says that the vast majority of people are 100% male or 100% female. The science also says there are people genetically or biologically intersex with primary sexual characteristics of both sexes. There is also lots of research into the genetics of secondary sexual characteristics (which are things like Jenner being a 'chunk') which shows that it is somewhat common for at least some of those genes being typical of the other biological sex.So you have nothing? Just a big bluff?
...
And both the Olympic and World Aquatics organizations have ruled. And the rules are made up by the organizations involved.
Are you suggesting that the HS science lessons you hardly paid attention to were the same as PhD research?Of course it has. But when I was in HS we were taught there are only XX and XY Chromosomes (female and male gender).
...
They have. But their rulings are often based on the money and viewership their competitions receive so their rules keep changing over time. More significantly, their members are governmental bodies who are accountable to their countries so the continued discussion is important. And both the Olympic and World Aquatics organizations have ruled.
World Aquatics welcomed the news, hailing it as a 'major step forward in our efforts to protect women's sport.'
When the trans issue is not involved, it's sexist to suggest differences between male and female brains. A few years ago, a Harvard president or dean had to step down for making that very claim. In addition there are studies on brain structures that show many trans individuals have developmental brain structures more similar to that of their identified gender.
Intersex is so statistically so small that it is insignificant 0.018%The science says that the vast majority of people are 100% male or 100% female. The science also says there are people genetically or biologically intersex with primary sexual characteristics of both sexes. There is also lots of research into the genetics of secondary sexual characteristics (which are things like Jenner being a 'chunk') which shows that it is somewhat common for at least some of those genes being typical of the other biological sex.
Wow, its such a tiny minority you decided to pick on.Intersex is so statistically so small that it is insignificant 0.018%
I dunno…I’m not a geneticist.Of course it has. But when I was in HS we were taught there are only XX and XY Chromosomes (female and male gender).
Now science claims there's 72 genders.
If thats true, could you list for us the chromosome sequences for all 72 genders, please??
Are you guys willing to die on this leftist hill?Wow, its such a tiny minority you decided to pick on.
But I guess that's the point.
I dunno…I’m not a geneticist.
If…for the sake of argument…there is a scientific consensus amongst all of the researchers who have dedicated their careers to studying the topic of gender then I am inclined to believe it or to at least try to understand where they are coming from.
I am assuming that the definition of gender they are discussing includes not just one’s physical traits but also how they understand and experience the concept of gender. From that perspective, many researchers would argue that gender exists on a continuum rather than a binary proposition.
Anyhow…my original question was to ask why people get so upset about this in the first place…and please don’t tell me that it’s because you care so deeply about fairness in women’s sports
So what is it then? Because it just seems like more bigotry and fear mongering from the Right.
When the trans issue is not involved, it's sexist to suggest differences between male and female brains. A few years ago, a Harvard president or dean had to step down for making that very claim.
Yet once trans get involved, now gender differences in brains matter, because it helps to make their case. So which is it? Are male and female brains different, or are they not?
Science should not be politicized, by the right or the left.
Are you okay?
Why should anyone die on an issue that you really shouldn't even care about? Are you guys willing to die on this leftist hill?
EXACTLY!Why should anyone die on an issue that you really shouldn't even care about?
It doesn't touch your life.
As PET said, the state has no business in the bedrooms of the nation.
Its not like you care if pro athletes are cheating with steroids to begin with.
This is just an opportunity to justify gay bashing all over again.
