Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes opened with $57 million domestically with an additional $129 globally. Watched it Sunday night, it ranks with Rise and Dawn and it's superior to War. Freya Allan had the thankless role as the human Mae, Owen Teage (Noah), Kevin Durand (Proximus Caesar) and Peter Macon (Raka the Orangutan) were all excellent.

Francis Ford Coppola must have one more irrefutable beauty left before he shuttles off and joins the choir invisible. He's got a great cast of character actors to work with. Giancarlo Esposito (Gus Frings - Breaking Bad) as the Mayor of NYC.

Has George Miller snatched gold from dross, some have predicted that Furiosa would bomb. I don't see that, not with Anya Taylor Joy and Tom Burke in the film.

No disrespect to Chris Hemsworth intended, Tom Burke can match ATJ talent wise. Mank sucked ass but Burke was awesome as Orson Welles.

I knew it, I bought into the hype reversing my previous call that the film would bomb. Two items worked against George Miller, he left it too late. Whatever momentum that Fury Road generated was evaporated by having to wait almost a decade for a follow up. As much as I love AJoy, the film should not have been called A Mad Max Saga, that's way too Twilight for fans of the genre. You can't make a Mad Max film without Mad Max.

Supposedly George Miller is shooting Mad Max: The Wasteland which will premiere next summer. The fate of that film will depend on The Bike Riders making more money than Furiosa.

It's disappointing.

I like a lot of what he did, but it doesn't come together properly so it falls flat.

The film isn't as cohesive as I expected. I love Anya Taylor Joy but she's not physical enough for the role. Charlize Theron is taller than Tom Hardy.

Speaking of which, Mrs Chen looks fantastic! Hardy wanted an R rating for his contractual obligation. If he doesn't get it, the film will bomb. Tom Hardy co-wrote the screenplay.

On the flipide, Netflix knows how to squeeze out turds. Is there anyone more annoying than JLow, she must resent not being cast as Ripley, so she plagiarized the character. In her next film she plays Niki Lauden...her massive ego doesn't match her threadbare talent. Why would Simu Liu take part in this garbage.

The reality is The Rock took a horrible beating from Ken Shamrock. The end of which The Rock was taken out on a stretcher. Ironically Shamrock was fired for working stiff, the beating The Rock took effectively launched his WWE career.

They didn't go far enough, at the very least they didn't make the mistake of Star Trek. ST: Discovery introduced a gay character and picked the shallowest most self-obsessed actor to play him, time for Kevin Spacey's purgatory to end. Let the box-office decide his fate.
